i am wanting to get mine powder coated, but i'm scarred that with my feet always rubbing around down there it would pull off the poweder coat and it would look like sh*t. how well does the powdercaot stand up down there.
also i need someone who has done it on a 696 to tell me how i take them off and how to take the pegs off...

how to take them off: Find bolts holding them on, insert correct tool, turn counter-clockwise  |

powder coating is quite durable, but over time you will create 'wear' areas. Mine have been coated for about a year = 8,000 miles and the only wear currently is on the brake lever. There are other small scratches from my boots, but still looks better black then the stock silvery color. i didn't coat the pegs themselves, since i know they would wear even faster.
Nothing you coat that high use area with will last forever.

I want to PC them also, but I was waiting until I could find out what to torque the bolts back to. Anyone know? Someone at the dealership gave me some general torques based on size of bolt, but I'm a little skeptical.

I rattled-canned mine with black & rattle canned some gloss over that. There's a slight rub area by my heels, but the rest of it looks fine. Total cost? $4
