I need cartridge kit for the marzocchi non-adjustables! Matris is the only company that I am aware of that will convert them to adjustable. Anyone know where to start?  In the US?  I can find sites overseas, but I dont want to pay the extra shipping and exchange rates.  I have fully considered all other options including fork swaps of all sorts.  This is the route I want to go.
Thanks,
JT

Did you look at the Traxxion Dynamics AK-20 kit?

I'm fairly certain it's available for Marzocchis.

It's not Matris, but is made in this country.

I have the Matris fork kit and it works well.  Check in with PJs Parts and see if they can get it for you (they claim to carry Matris).  I think Icon ordered his Matris fork kit directly from the Italian manufacturer for a competitve overall price, so that might be an option.  Traxxion might be a better way to go since you'd get local support.  I understand with the Traxxion kit the compression adjustment is internal, so you have to disassemble the cartridge to change that setting.  The Matris kit allows external preload, rebound and compression.

I was close a few months back, but the price of about $1k here in Europe forced me to drop it.

CarpiMoto told me that Matris will fit them with valves, springs and oil of your choice, at no extra cost. If you didn't already know, local VAT is deducted for orders shipping outside the EU countries.

It's a nice kit, but your main concern will/should be lack of service/support somewhere down the line. As an example, Matris does not answer emails.

You ought to contact Traxxion - they are great to deal with and I went with them for my rear suspension setup. I plan on using them when I have the cash for front suspenders as well.

I know others that have had matris cart's put in, but the support isn't there anymore.  Jason at DOS used to carry them, and there is a good reason why he doesn't anymore.

With AK-20's available and made here in the US (right here in GA as a matter of fact), there really isn't a good reason to go through the trouble to get the matris stuff anymore (IMHO).  Then again, putting race internals in a monster fork is kinda overkill....but nothing exceeds like excess. laughingdp

Another benefit is that you can simply send your forks to 'em, they'll disassemble, polish, put in fancy parts, etc, and ship 'em back to you for you to bolt back on.

You get more than just the fancy new parts, you get the personal attention to your setup, which I think is a big deal.

I got a shipping quote a couple months back on the Matris kit from CarpiMoto in Italy.
52 Euro, 10 days. That's like 70 bucks...

The fork kit is 630 Euro, or about $815 bucks.
Kit does come with oil.

You're looking at about $900 to get the kit to the East coast of the U.S.

One note, if you have suburban machinery handlebars, i don't think the fork cartridge adjusters will fit under the bars... The reason i haven't ordered yet...

It's risky, things get lost in shipping blah blah.. And who knows if that's 10 american days, or 10 european days (30 days).
I'd use a credit card for sure, so if it doesn't ever arrive, it's not YOUR money lost.

Jason at DOS said to send them to him, and he would work something out with a 20mm cartridge and maybe get a cap with rebound adjustment for $6-$700.  Anyone have any experience with him?  He said if he could not get them to work he would not charge me anything.  What do you think?

I'd say go for it - that kind of accountability is what you want - yes?

Jason is good people.  I'd take him up on that.  If you go that route, the sooner you get them out the better, because once the track season gets underway the good suspension guys get VERY busy.

I wrote to Jason at DOS a few months ago when I got the suspension bug and he was very prompt with a response and had TONS of great info.  I say go for it.

When Jason/DOS was still working with Matris I ordered my fork kit from him and he did top notch work. My only complaint was that I asked him to ship back my stock internals because they only had about 200 miles on them and I never got them.

I have the matris kit and suburban machinery bars.  They will fit.  I later added bar risers but not to clear the fork adjusters.
