Or you can go back really and watch the really original one where Freddy Spencer races a 300ZX with 30 seconds head start and a Honda Sabre with 15 seconds head start at Laguna Seca.

Its video's like this that really appeal to us gear loving dreamers who wonder how odd matched machines would do against each other.

Makes me want to get a superbike so badly. Look away from the superbike, look away.
Wonder how the fastest Monster would fair against the Lambo?

i think there is something else to consider here - it seems to me that the cars were being driven by average (or maybe better than average) drivers, but the bikes were ridden by pros. do you think the duc would beat the lambo with let's say schumacher at the wheel?

good point, but i'm not sure you are right. rossi would beat this guy by how much on the track, 10-20seconds? the rider on the first video is a british superbike pro. and a formula 1 driver might beat an average schmo more than a minute...

well, look at the second video - two track instructors/racers and freddie. they are all in the business of going fast, and the car driver is in the business of going fast on
that
track.

Let's not forget that the driver of the Lambo is Tiff Needell - probably not as sharp as the stig
but a competent driver nonetheless...

The only downside of getting a sbk is that the Monsters go up for sale soon thereafter. Do it

I think that an S4RS can be ridden just a well/fast as a 999S - Maybe? Mine's pretty bad ass when she takes the notion to be.

You're probably right.. It's a 2005 999. Base model. But the '05 base model had the S motor in it. 130+ hp I think. Way more than I'll need. I actually think I'll be slower at first than I was on my M750. I rode the wheels off that thing and regularly stayed with and passed bigger displacement bikes in the tight stuff. Of course, when things straightened out they went bye-bye.
I think it all comes down to the rider once power gets close.
The main reason I got rid of the Monster for the 999 is that the 999 is biposto. The 750 was mono. The rear pegs had been cut off to install high mounts before I bought her. I'm in need of the passenger seat, and the 999 fell into my lap at a price that was too good to pass up.
