What was the date you placed the order?  Or lift one of the edges from the backing paper and look at the perforations.  You should be able to see if it is laminated(old) or not(new).

I installed mine few weeks ago so I'm assuming I have one from the original run. It looks cool but is in no way safe to ride in. I took a morning ride down town for some coffee though down town Annapolis one Sunday morning. Everytime I was was headed into the low morning sun I couldn't see a damn thing.  Small objects in the road are also very hard to see.

I peeled it off for the ride home Cry

Does the newer material have this problem?

I'm sorry you experienced that Mike.  The heat process when applying the laminate to the graphic causes the once optically clear material to distort slightly on some of the vinyl.

The new design is not laminated, therefore you have an unobstructed view through the 6,000+ perforations.  The material is still protected from UV rays and scratches with a clear gel coating sprayed on during printing.  This coating does not interfere with visibility.

You will still be affected by the sun because you are wearing a clear visor, but you could try a SLIGHTLY tinted shield or sunglasses.

Got mine, installed and tried a ride. It felt like I was riding without my contacts. Scared the hell outta me. Had to swap back to a normal visor. It's a shame because I love the look. But, I can't even read the gauges.

hard to say, everyones eyes are different, i tried riding with glasses on ( i ave -2.5 in each eye) and it was impossible, with contacts in, it was fine. You just have to mentally take a note and remember to not try and focus on the dots, cause once you do, youll find it impossible to not focus on them.

I think for the sake of art, this thing is great. But for every day usability, it would need to larger preforations, but it takes away from the hilarity of it. which is why i only wear the vinyl commuting around town. serious jaunts = clear visor.

Okay folks, here thay are, photos of me wearing my Lego face.

The BackPack I wear is a repsol replica hardpack that gets a lot of attention on the freeway (the good kind), and the giant plastic shell works awesome with the lego visor. The other day I got a whole bus full of kids waving at me on the freeway. It was great!

The new version is definitely an improvement. The bright sunlight is its only weakness. I was dubbed "Legoman" at the elementary school I was doing field work in. The teacher I worked with gave serious thought to returning to motorcycling, but his wife (who taught in the class next door) felt the subject needed further discussion.  Angry

I'm still getting used to the dots and I have found they can be a bit hynotizing. A couple of times I seem to almost forget how close I am to things and catch myself using the brakes a bit abruptly...just need to practice I guess.
