Yes, that is a nice bike...
Now a question...
There is a 848 now...a couple of 1098 or 1198, high powered Streetfighters, 1100 Hypers and soon a 1100 GS adventure...so far so good
But why is the Monster the only beginner bike ? Performance wise..
The style is not everyone's darling as we all agree on , right ?
But this SS is extremely nice to look at...
I think what Ducati needs to compete with the Honda CBR 600RR , the 600 Ninja and the R6, not to mention the Daytona 675  is a "SS 696".
Here in Europe we have strong regulations regarding fuel, CO² and noise.
This bike would sell like fresh bread and butter..
Now anyone call Borgo Panigale  and tell em  [coffee]

Any two valver would get killed by any of those bikes you mentioned. The bikes you mentioned have something around 120 HP. The highest horsepower duc 2 valve makes around 100 give or take 5. No doubt it would still be a sweet ride.

And as mentioned by a couple of other companies, such as BMW, there is very little to no money in the 600 Sport market, BMW have been watching this Market segment very closely, debating spending the money developing a bike for the Market, it would appear that they have decided to put the project on hold for the time being.
There Manager for the bike division stated in a recent Magazine article that in the current economic climate they would lose money hand over fist, but even with the economy running at it's best the project would run very very close to the wire cost wise.

A number of the Japanese companies have stated on occasion that there is virtually no money in the 600 supersport market.
