A few more details about the ride to Oklahoma on Monday;
If you're familiar with The Muenster Run

this section of road is basically 15 miles northwest from Muenster. The actual road is FM 677 North out of Saint Jo (Ahh yes, the lovely little community of St. Jo. Got a ticket there once for 36 in a 30...but that's a totally different crock of fish that can wait for another day).
FM 677 is kind of funny in that you cruise north out of town through the city square, amble along a quaint tree-lined neighborhood at a quaint 30mph (thank you very much), then the road seems to just fall away onto this panoramic canyon vista; chalk white limestone bluff on your left, robust armaco and wide-open nothing on your right, it's Three Sisters: Part II

Eventually, 677 flattens out into a big valley full of farms and fields on the border of Texas and Oklahoma. Which brings us to the Really, Really Long Road.
Now I don't know about you but any road that is long enough to land a space shuttle is cool in my book:
View from the landing gear of DiscoveryIt was only after our second
blast pass that I noticed the river down there... Of course I could tell you where every pebble, beetle and expansion joint on the highway was but the finer points of scenery were completely lost on me

Fortunately Steve had a camera.
Taovaya Bridge: Guzzi vs. Ducati - AGAIN... 916cc vs. Not! Hey, that ST4s DOES have a headlight
Red River from the Taovaya BridgeOverall it was a great ride route (hats off to sdlrodeo!) – one that could easily be incorporated into the next Muenster Run. With this northwesterly addition, you're definitely gonna need to eat your Wheaties. I'm going to ride it again soon just to get a better handle on total miles and time involved but at this point I'd have to guess it would be a leave at 9am, return to D/FW by 5 or 6 kind of day. Doc's would still be on the slate as a good mid-day lunch break but then there's another hour at least north of there just to get to the Taovaya Bridge.
Ahh, good times for sure.
So watch this space – an April Mega Muenster Marathon Ride will be coming soon to a Ducati near you
