man, I switched jobs recently and havent been on lately. Im very sad to hear about Rich. He was a great guy. I was on a few rides with him, out to the Houston show and several hillcountry rides. Rest in peace Rich.

* I would have liked to be at Mings, but didnt hear until today. Please let me know if you ride that road in memory or Rich. Thank you.

I've been away from the boards for a little bit... this really is quite sad to hear about.  I never met Rich but my heart and prayers go out to his family.  The outpouring of love speaks volumes to the man and this community.    applause

Sounds like a warm time was had by all in memory of Rich last week.  Very glad to hear so.
Sorry I couldn't make it.  We felt it was the least we could do in sending the arrangement.

My prayers go out to Rich, Cathy and their families.  I worked w/ Rich and Cathy in Chicago / Optimus for five years.  It was a time I will never forget...Rich had that way about him.  My condolences to  you, Cathy...

Saddened,

Anyone know if the police concluded anything about the cause of the accident yet?  It's maddening not knowing...

I agree Factor...also, was disappointed we could'nt 'honor' him with a THCM procession to his funeral.  Although I know some families prefer it to be private...I respect that.

Just talked with Cathy about an hour ago....the official police report on the recently performed  "re-creation" at the accident site has not been revealed at this time.  So we still know nothing........

There was no typical *funeral*.  There was a celebration of Rich's life, and it was done very much in his spirit.

I have come to understand something, in my years of losing friends to this hobby/passion/sport/lifestyle.  There are very few instances where my knowing the full details matter.  I was his friend, his riding buddy, a member at the same table at bike night, a fellow mini-driver, a fellow ducatisti, etc... but, I was not his wife, or family member.  I don't mean to come off as callous - so please don't think it's that way... but we aren't those that NEED to know.  We want to know, we'd like to know...

It is my hope those that NEED to know, get the information they need - and all the answers to their questions.

On another note, I found some pictures from the Ducati Trackday at Harris Hill last April:

I agree fully with Zoomie......nicely penned Moira....

I think we should always think of the life, the fun times, the corny jokes, and his obsession with obtaining the "right" bling for his riding experience and truly let go of the if's and the why's pertaining to our loss.......

not sure why you quoted my post, but I understand what you're saying as I too know people I've lost to motorcycling.  I've also unfortunately had to handle doa bike accidents.  I don't want to speak for Factor, but from a standpoint of knowing what happened, it's a valuable learning tool.  Not knowing what happened to a fellow rider is like a MIA soldier.  The camaraderie in motorcycling is evident when we wave to other riders we don't even know.
