cleaning a helmet
«
on:

I remember a thread in my prior life regarding washing the inside of my helmet. I wanted to reflect back on this but didn't want to visit that particular site.
I remember people wearing their helmet into the shower and using shampoo to wash it.
What else do people do to clean their non-removable liner? Both for smell, and skin oils and such.

I'm sorry you got all butt-hurt. Now let it go. Deep breath. Just let it goooo....

The guy who sold me my Shoei said that if I wanted to, I could pretty much immerse the thing in soapy water and scrub it a bit, as long as I let it dry real good. Haven't had to do that just yet though.

That is pretty much how I washed my previous helmet. I would run water into it in the sink, basically filling it up. Put in just a drop of laundry soap, swish it around, scrub the lining a bit, then rinse several times. Blot dry it with a towel, then air dry for a couple days.

I *heart* removable liner
never washed my old lid... partly because I smell like roses, but mostly because it got stolen before it got too stinky.

Maybe nobody would have stolen it if it didn't smell like roses.

I wash mine with shampoo...if it's gonna be on my head...what ever I wash it with should be head friendly. Plus it makes it smell nice.

I use a real mild soap and water. Just make sure you dry it out well, or else it'll get all gross with mildew. ewww.
