The winner will be the one who can afford the most aftermarket parts and bolt them on?

atleast his seat stayed dry   ???

you know i've been thinking about that. what was the freaking point of putting a cover on the bike when you had to ride it home in the rain anyway?

hmm that makes me want to go to laguna seca now.  not that my bike would win anything, but it'd be nice to see what other people are doing.

I need some inspiration.

2005 actually.  So, 4 years ago.

But yes, after I won the DMC in '05...Ducati changed how they judge the contests because NOTHING on my bike was 'off the shelf'.  If you need proof of this, just look at the 2006 DMC winning bike.  [roll]  Which, BTW was actually in the 2005 DMC wearing the SAME tires and still didn't have a license plate on it.  (i.e.: He NEVER rides the thing....)

IMO, Ducati now judges to sell the DP aftermarket items.

yeah that's a shame.  It would seem to make sense to have two categories.  Maybe a "mild" and "wild" to differentiate the full blown customs from the bolt-ons.

I know a lot of car shows have similar categories.  I've even been to a car show where they specified "no trailer queens."

I find this interesting Stew. Only because when I entered my bike in the MC in NYC it wasn't Ducati that did the voting. They had guys from Cycle World Magazine etc doing the judging.
The guy that beat me in New York had a bunch of "custom" stuff on his bike. I put it in quotes because all the parts were from a company called Road Racing and the owner didn't do shit to it except buy it.

Ducati didn't expressly do the voting in '05 either.  They just set the criteria which would be judged and how much each category was worth as a percentage of point total.  There-by, they were able to 'weigh' the voting differently but they didn't themselves do the voting.

It is a fact that the voting categories and percentages changed radically between '05 and '06 and that's what I was referring to.
