Morning. Vet appointment for the cat tpday. He needed meds beforehand. All that happened was blood.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Much much better Carlos.  Still a little weak, but getting better every day.

Today was Rowdy's first day hunting in the woods. He's hunted open fields, and did very well.

Well...it didn't go so well. We hunted him alone. He was working the area perfectly, keeping track of us and staying close. My buddy who's been hunting far longer than I was impressed with how the dog worked being so young and inexperienced.

Suddenly his head went up and he bolted like a rocket. I used the e collar, but I didn't have it set high enough to distract him from whatever stole his attention, an admitted rookie mistake on my part. We called, whistled, used the collar to no avail. Eventually his beeper could no longer be heard. I was sure the dog was never to be seen again. My heart sank.

As we headed back to the truck still calling I was trying to figure out what to do. He had never done anything like that before, and his recall has been excellent. I couldn't just leave, but I was riding with my buddy. My plan was to stay right where I was to continue looking for him, and call T to come get me.

My hunting partner is faster than me, and as I got closer to the truck he hollered out...stop calling...I have the dog. The dog, never having been to this spot before, only having seen the truck once, was laying underneath the truck waiting for us. I guess his intelligence shouldn't be questioned. His behavior...that's another story.

I won't make the e collar mistake ever again so if he gets distracted he'll get a firm reminder where he needs to focus his attention. I think I should buy a lottery ticket. It was my lucky day. it could have been so much worse.

Morning.  Glad Rowdy has a good sense of direction, Nate.

Popeye the Sailor

I'm so glad you found your pup, Nate!

The company I had a second interview with wants a third one.  :P

If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Thanks everyone.

I was totally stressed out. I got lucky with this dog. He's incredibly intelligent., but equally boneheaded..

Congrats on the third interview Dave.  Why would you want to work for a company that can't make a basic decision???????

Just a question.

Hey all y'all.

Mixed bag of info the past 10-ish pages, I see.  Sorry about job prospects to those looking but super glad to see you're doing good, Howie!!

And glad Nate and Rowdy reconnected - I understand that feeling.

Had been on the road for almost 3 weeks for work in all US time zones.  At the tail end of the 2nd to last stop, I managed to break my foot in 2 places (thought about you, Mary).  Limped my way home from SE FLa. to N. CO (not anywhere near Denver, Carlos so I can't make it to that restaurant you mentioned) but also managed to develop a few blood clots in my calf.

I'll likely become annoying on this site to keep myself from going stir crazy for 4-6 weeks as a shut in.   :P [bang]

You've been warned.   ;D [beer]
