My sister is looking for a fun car to drive.  I suggested the STI.  She mumbled something about purchase budget and insurance...

I'd LOVE to take one for a lively drive!

The newest WRX is cheaper (purchase/insurance) than the sti and almost as fun.

He says nothing much new on the '13.  He's going to ask around on the '14.

He's new to Subaru (maybe 4 months or so), but I've never found him to be much of a car guy anyway.

Than what is doing working for a "car guys" company?

There may already be one in a certain garage in VT, but we're not allowed to see or know about it.   Sad

You might be surprised how few 'car guys' work for OEMs, but I'm not.
