Good PET scan report yesterday

mix of dead and dark tumors and neutralized bad lymphs

Still 2 or so stubborn ones on the liver

Doc is happy we are winning the war 3 months in...but has some questions on seeming anomalies on tumor before-treatment-and-after sizes...

she feels that everything should be shrinking at my 90% marker level drop since chemo is a systemic/systemwide assault

so she is presenting my case to the entire Sloan Kettering Oncology team including their world-renown rockstar Oncologists

at their weekly meeting on Wednesday to make sure she isn't missing anything or needs to consider changing weaponry for the stubborn part of the war

I thanked her for being so thorough about my treatment and for putting my care ahead of any vanity or ego issues doctors sometimes have

when faced with asking for external input

I told her it was the difference between a "good" doctor and a "truly great" doctor

caught the poor girl off-guard and her eyes almost watered, she kissed me on the cheek and said "thank you for saying that"

Yes overall good news it is.... we are hammering the shit out of the cancer, the only good tumor is a dark tumor

...but like anything Sloan tackles,,,,the slightest questions are never considered slight,

these folks don't dismiss, assume or guess at ANYTHING that does not add up completely to 100%

unfortunately there was a 1 month lapse between my initial PET scan in December and when we actually started the treatments in Jan...

so there was "probably" a month of unchecked tumor growth that was not documented before treatment onset

which is why my current PET showed some tumors are larger when compared with the old PET...

they probably got larger during that month and have shrunken...but we have no record of "what was what" RIGHT before the treatment started to effectively gauge that

and Sloan does not work on "probably"   Smiley

good to hear, Rat. also, it's good to hear Rat.  waytogo

keep giving it hell.
all the ppl i interacted with at any part of Sloan Kettering were great (aside from one purchasing guy who was having a bad month) All the doctors at my old company loved them too.

Great news, RAT.  Keep up the good fight.

In other news, I was corresponding with a friend/colleague of mine at one of our other region offices.

This was in regards to course material that I was asked to review (taking it to the shredder and starting over would be the best bet) and I said that I'd probably not be asked to review a course in the future.

His response: "Everyone starts with a bridge and has to burn it at some point.  You might want to get your matches out."
