Almost fifty years I've known the clever little bastard.  One of the few life long friends.  He had a battle, the battle won.  Pretty make the beast with two backsin' sad right now.

I'm in Omaha, NE for the night.  Left the mitten quite early this morning to drop my sister off for a 7AM flight then continued on my way.  Roads and traffic were both pretty good.  Will be nice to be back home tomorrow.

Nice service for my aunt and great to see family.  As I mentioned previous, my aunt was one of nine in a family of farmers.  As such the extended family is quite large.  19 of my 25 remaining (of 28) cousins were able to make it.

Unfortunately, while I was there, I received word that one of my classmates passed away on Thursday.  He was diabetic, had an infection that went septic, which caused heart issues resulting in a couple strokes and eventually a brain bleed.  Really good dude.  He was 55.

Then we heard yesterday that my former neighbor passed on Sunday at 94.

And then today, one of my cousins - who I sat across from at lunch yesterday with no signs of any issues - had emergency surgery today to remove a blood clot from a lung and another in a leg.  Thankfully that went well.  He'll spend the night in the hospital.
