i got home from work, got out of the car and smelled oil 
i thought it was my car, but i discovered the smell got stronger when i went into the garage

the make the beast with two backsing jackass oil company overfilled our oil tank 
whatamake the beast with two backsing mess 

they left no note or anything either... we called them and left a nice message
mike started cleaning up after i took 11ty billion photos of our basement

i'm not happy  at all
the whole house smells like oil 
how could they not know the tank was full?
we have been conserving, and haven't turned on the heat yet...
until now... it's cranked to try to use what's still make the beast with two backsing leaking

i'm sorry for the rant, but i'm really make the beast with two backsing mad

Call your insurance company...they'll fix things to your satisfaction and sue the oil co

And DES...they'll make every single person at that oil company take more training...and fine them.

It ain't rocket science...the thing whistles and you stop pumping.

Definitely call them.  Let them clean it.  Make them put you up in a really nice hotel and destroy the mini-bar.

Speaking of cell phone oops...  at this afternoon's soccer game, there was a soccer mom on her phone in the stands.  A defensive player cleared the ball.  Soccer mom on the phone wasn't really paying attention.  The ball deflected off the bleachers and proceeded to deflect of the side of the soccer mom's head.  Glad she wasn't driving at the time.

where is the vent on the tank?

do they enter the house?

why i ask about the vent? when they are filling the tank the fill and the vent are normally very close together. THis is because the vent whistles until the tank is full. When the whistle stops this tells the driver that the tank is full and to turn the lever on the nozzle off.

If the vent is not out side there is a device that should be placed into the fill that acts as the "whistle"

I would call and complain definetly. The driver at the least was not paying attention and should be made accountable.

Here the fines are really steep for a spill like that.

Also since you are on the phone with the oil company, hang up and call the Police so that your claim is documented. Have them send out a car so that the PO can see and smell the oil. Another thing the rags used to clean up are not supposed to go in regular trash.

jim, they fill our tank from the outside, and the vent is outside
the rags we used to clean up are in separate hefty bag outside

i documented the best i could with photos,
i never thought of calling the police to document the smell 
it still smells... we can smell it in our bedroom on the second floor
