Ducati.ms seems to have been less affected than DML.  A lot of the old regulars jumped ship, but the site still remains for the most part.  I think it came from a much less tight-knit grassroots community than DML.  This is my observations, I was not a part of either in the beginnings.

If I remember correctly, Ducati.ms pre VS wasn't as unique as the DML in terms of user interface or number of members, or age, so it may not have been such a drastic transition.

FWIW: According to a friend of mine at SBN, they have an agreement with VS: they just host and do ads but don't own them.

Yep, you're right.  I actually just went over and searched for threads on it and Fred Folkerts, the owner, did post about it.  They provide the ads (not anything near as invasive as DML) and that's it.  I actually posted a message with the story of what happened with DML and pleaded Fred not to ever sell to them no matter what they offer him.

VS is the borg of internet communities.

You will be assimilated...

How long till they try and get our 8 mods to sell?

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.
