I'm back.  It went well enough.

I was rusty as hell after not having ridden on the track since mid '06 and not even having ridden a streetbike more than 500 miles the last two years.

First session was bloody pathetic.  I felt like I had no idea what I was doing out there.

Second session was much better, but  still sucked.

3rd was better again, but not enough better to make me happy.

4th session was my best of the day and I even started to get a nice rhythm going.  I was able to find a nice pace (for being gone so long), outbrake most people into the corners (in the B group at least) and was dragging my knee where I used to for the most part.  I was probably still a good 15 seconds off my old pace there, but I was definitely happy with my progress.

A few things I noticed...

SVs are much slower than 600s.  I felt like I was on the monster again in terms of power.  Everything I made up on the brakes and in the turns was lost (even on the streets short straights).

I need my rearsets MUCH higher to be comfy.  I was struggling all day getting myself comfy on that pig of a motorcycle and I could never lean off as much as I wanted because my pegs were so damn low (among other issues I was having with body position).

All in all a good day and a firm reminder that once I regain employment, I need to be out at the track as much as possible 'cause I have lost a TON of time in the past 2.5 years.

Oh, and Joe and Ryan should have some pictures for everyone...

Awesome Day, great to finally meet you DB.

My confidence was pretty well shot until about half way thru the day but it was good getting back on the horse...

here are some pit photos from the day, there are some good shots that will come from CaliPhoto soon, they have new photographers and there are some goodies.

I hate all of you with a white hot passion!!!  Shocked Grin

Looks like a good time was had by all.  While you guys were having fun I was dealing with rotten kids, parents and most unfortunately rotten cheerleaders.  I hate cheerleaders, (sorry JC I know you where the only male cheerleader at Malibu HS  Kiss ). I feel better already. thanks!

The SV should be dialed in with fully built suspenders in the next few weeks.  Hopefully I will be able to join ya'll at the next track day.

Peace!!!

PS Did I mention my distaste for cheerleaders?

<mind boggle>
Can someone please reconcile Garrett's stupendous lean angles with that pic of a tire that seems to have barely gotten warmed up?  Huh?

That tire you're seeing is only about 3 sessions old probably.  Those crazy lean angle pics came from a tire that had been shagged for something like 3 days.  And that my friends is why Dunlops are supreme.

track daz, unlike fastrack riders, doesn't provide lap times.  if you want em you gotta do it yourself... i don't think any of us really care

yup!  that pic is also of a slightly bigger tire.. but i'm pretty sure i was getting the same lean angle  Wink

What Track Daz DOES provide you with however, is a minimum of 30 crashes per day.  I think all but one session yesterday had at least 1 crash.
