I am almost done with my first mold for a windscreen for the 696/1100.  Feel free to give me feedback good or bad. I will probably end up doing this piece in carbon.  Here are the pics..

a screen that surrounds more of the headlight would be more pleasing to my eye.   All the screens I've seen so far look like a little hat sitting on the headlight to me.  Just my opinion.

I don't think that bike looks good with any windscreen, but yours looks better than most I've seen. Maybe if it wasn't as tall?

Thanks all, I would agree about the hat.  The headlight is so low on the 696 it is hard to make a windscreen look good. We are trying to achieve an actual wind blocker without looking ridiculous. I did a photoshop of a lower windscreen for comparison. However, the wind will more than likely still hit you.  Our aero guy gave us the basic height to prevent most wind from hitting the rider, but at the cost of aesthetics.

Here is the 2 comparisons with somewhat stock colors.

Lower

Not bad. That lower version definitely looks better. I'd be interested to see it if you match the pearl white and matte black of the gas tank similar to what you have pictured.

Did you shorten your turn signal lights? Looks good.

I like the curvature of the screen but it's something about the hard edges that don't feel right to me. Below is a picture of the DP screen I installed. This screen flows and doesn't have any sharp points.

I like the look of the white/black paint job.  Would go good with the bike if the colors matched.

Ryanracer,

i think the top of the headlight piece is your problem. take it off and integrate the screen with the actual headlight frame.

I have to agree with howie that most all the fairings I've seen for the new Monsters look like little hats or just an afterthought.
I think yours is one of the best I've seen though.
I also think that if you widen your prototype and take the sides down to end where the metal and plastic light surround meet it would look better.  I think the height is fine, just need to make it look even more like a true fairing.

Wow, thanks a bunch! Yes, I removed the spacers in the indicator lights (very easy mod!)  We were playing around with some photoshop jobs with a bigger fairing, but they look a bit weird. We did do one with the headlight integration, aka sport classic and one that intersected the headlight frame, but we could not settle on a design that looked good and was practical for mounting.  The points are still a bit sharp still and we will probably end up softening them a bit.  We are trying to match the profile lines of the tank in order to bring some cohesiveness to the design. Does it work? I don't know yet, I will have to make an actual piece to test.  The piece in the pictures is made of foam and bondo and weighs about 10 lbs! We are still sanding and sculpting the mold so I wanted some opinions before we fire away on a final design. I may sharpen the angles a little bit on the bottom to give a sharper contrast.  I would totally agree with the original design as an after thought and it is not integrated. At least with the DP they matched the dash profile.

Hmm. Interesting concept, I will see if that can be done. It may give us some additional bracing.....THANKS!! Where do we send the royalties?

good looking piece. Definitely the best I've seen so far.   waytogo

Maybe if you rounded the top edge off a little more?  I like the fact that you are trying to carry the profile of the take.  It makes for consistency.  Just not sure I like the way the two lateral elements come to such pronounced points at the top edge.

This may also just be nit-picking, too.

I agree.  I would like to see a screen with the headlight incorporated, not just sitting on top of the headlight.
