I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Hey Pompetta, what flyscreen are you running?  Is that off a Street Triple?

My pants got tight...

That really temps me to chop the tail and whack my cans too.  Looks great.

And I hadn't seen those belt covers Pompetta.  [thumbsup]

RE:

That's a sweet picture. I hope that you have it framed and hanging somewhere for people to see.

Nice work/shot!

Thanks for the kind words guys!

As a matter of fact, I actually do have it as one of my computer screen wallpapers along with many other bikes from this forum! and if pompetta is kind enough to put up a high res of his beauty.. I would have to include that also *hint hint*  ;)

This brings up a good point. If someone would find a place to get large poster prints of some of these pics at reasonable (under $50) prices, the flounders should sell them to support the forum. people could donate their hiresolution images. I know i need some decoration for the garage.

Per somegirl's request: My newly retired 1975 KZ-400 (or should I say replaced, not retired)
After I panted the tank, side covers, rear fender. (How it looked when I first started riding it)

Some shots of the parts bike:

More pictures of before the major touch ups.

Dent free tank

Someones idea of a performance exhaust  [roll]

Reapholstered seat

And now for the teardown:

398cc of fury! (After I touched up the generator and main drive covers)

Frame prior to sandblasting and respray:

Just after reassembly:

And a few more from this summer:

So heres the run down.
First time around:
Stripped the tank, filled a quarter sized dent, painted it gloss black, along with the side covers, rear fender, tail light bracket, and chain guard.
Had the seat reapholstered.
Sucked the indicators in as close as i could.
Replaced the clutch cable and handle. (Incorrectly adjusted the clutch I might add)
Lazily touched up some of the chrome/aluminum.

Second time around:
Took the bike 95% apart (I did not tear down the block as it ran fine {at least it would if the carbs were decent})
Sand blasted and resprayed the frame, swingarm, etc.
Painted the majority of the chrome over with gloss black (including the front fender which is {as many of you may have noticed} not from a KZ400)
100% tore down and rebuilt the forks (thoroughly cleaned, replaced seals, oil, etc
Rebuilt the carbs (with as close to the correct kits as I could find)
New points, condensor & plugs
Bought new clutch friction disks (then proceeded to return them as they didnt fit...not even close)
Mic'd my old disks and found them to be in spec, returned incorrect friction disks
Swapped on the front disk brake, wheel, master cylinder etc
More aluminum/chrome touch up.
Fixed the charging system (utilizing my spare coils and voltage regulator...and a LOT of frustration)

And last but not least...the old girls replacement:
2009 Monster 696!

2011 Monster 796 ABS

CW/evotech tail tidy, lightwereks integrated tail light, CRG Arrow bar end mirrors, Duc.ee solenoid eliminator & 696 midpipe, sans charcoal canister, pileon grab bars, Arrow Dark slipons (sans dB killers), Rizoma Zero11's, Rizoma Lux grips, Rizoma rearsets, Rizoma gas cap, 1098R Ohlins forks, IMA Triples, Galfer wave rotors, Brembo radial masters, Rizoma reservoirs, Ohlins DU737, Rizoma bars, 15t AFAM front and 41t supersprox rear sprocket with EK MVXC chain.

Here's What I've had and have..

2001 M750 Metallic. No digital photos of it, so I have pictures of pictures.  The tank was silver, with about 8 colors of metal flake in it.   It was pushed over in a parking lot and totaled.  I didn't have the heart at the time to attempt rebuilding it.

Then it was onto a 2005 749 Dark which Tried really hard to get me killed on the Sandia Crest backroad here in Albuquerque.  It was 12,000 miles of joy. Got me into track riding!

Now I'm riding around on a 2006 749s.  Its mostly stock because I'm seriously underfunded for any of the fun goodies that make a Ducati sing.

I hope all of the pictures work for everyone. Theyre hosted in a couple of different sources.

Some pics of my Hyper:

Side panels removed, slipper, 2 into 1, and assorted bits. Plan on powdercoating the subframe and a few other parts black next time it's in for service.

No bueno on the lighting but if you look closely in the next pic you can see the ca-cycleworks HM69 tank. Good for about 260-280 miles for me around town.

Rear shot, again not great lighting but you get the idea of how thin these things are.

Stops better, suspension works better, turns better, accelerates better. Best mod money can buy. Period.

Swapped out the stock bars, mirrors, etc. Blacked out bar with handguards and a Scott's underbar damper. The guards have a built in, smoked lens, signal.

OK. I finally bought a "Ducati" helmet. I never would have but at 50% of dealer cost brand new I had to have it for my Hyper riding.

Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar kicked me out of the band..... they said I didnt fit the image they were trying to project.
