Save the brass...

« Reply #1560 on: April 18, 2010, 10:43:06 AM »

Just asked since I'm setting mine up and is not so 'radical' in the front rake. I've got a quicker turn in, but, still looking for the adjustable height rod to finish up the rear and set sag correctly.

Lucky for me, my '99 has the old style linkage in the rear.  All that was necessary for me to raise the ride height was to back out the rose joints on each side about 3 threads.  1/4 inch there translated into almost an inch more height.   waytogo

Damn... now I want to go out and ride!  Laundry and chores can wait 'til later...   [moto]

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

Isn't it the 749/999 rod that you need? I think the 748/998 is about 3/4" shorter...

Was told that 748/996/8 was an exact fit to 'raise' the rear...but, if the 749/999 fits...

An updated pic after some progress:

Still a crappy cell phone pic, but you can see a couple new changes:

-SpeedyMoto pully covers
-billet axel plates from Desmo Times
-lowered front headlight and fly screen 2 1/2 inches (I cut/rewelded and powdercoated the U-shaped bracket & mounted gauges below the triple tree.  Looks really cool from every angle. Kept the sensor bar and everything behind the light looks factory stock & very clean)
-gold anodized oil fill cap
-gold anodized frame plugs
-rerouted wiring (no zip ties on the frame anymore)

What you can't see in that pic:

-DID ERV3 gold chain
-Vortex 14T front sprocket (very, VERY fun!)
-matching SpeedyMoto front sprocket cover
-gold anodized alternator cover
-gold anodized tail plugs

Still on the to-do list:
-round off the rear section of the front fender
-New rear tire
-Carbon fiber headlight bucket on the way

Wish list:
-adjustable front forks?

Awesome looking bike. I love the clip-on, headlight, custom gauge (?) look. All very tasteful.

Last week I parted with my 749s and Multistrada 1000. I kept the M900s and added this.
