Ironic, yes, but it also got us one of the all-time greatest statements on the DMF:
Termis sound like God's having an orgasm. Housepets explode into flame. Women collapse in ecstasy. Children bleed out of their ears. Grown men sob hysterically. Cops flee for their lives. - Spidey
I think you'll be very happy with the pipes. I also agree that the CF Termis have a richer, more natural sound. The SS ones have a little harsher, more metallic tone.
Warranty shouldn't be affected if the dealer does the install.
THAT...IS...JUST...AWESOME!!!!!

I'm going to thread jack, but I think he mind find this helpful as well.
What is the advantage to just doing slip on termi's? It would seem to me with out the full system, ecu, open air box. All your getting is looks.
What comes with the slip ons? Just the mufflers?

The 696 Termignoni kit is a slip-on exhaust system only, with ecu, and filter.
The weight savings (the cat. converter is built into the mufflers) and killer sound is probably the main advantage, I have the kit on my 696 and didn't notice any major power increase. But, I did notice the prices of other brands of slip-on only mufflers for the 696, and they are close to the price of the termi system in SS. For that reason I would say go for the Termi kit unless cost is a problem.

Keep in mind if you are planning to do it yourself you are foregoing the 2yr warranty and you are left with the 30 days warranty from purchase.
The system is plug and play. I chose to do my own installation and save $240 to $320 ($80/hr labor charge) for other mods.
What ever your decision is, do take out the baffles........

i finished installing a termi kit on my s2r1k today. Like others said, if you have tool do everything yourself. save a boatload of cash. I hooked the cans onto a Quat D mid-pipe. I'm going to have the dealer do the ECU, though, just to avoid any warranty issues. so, anyway, my monster now sounds like a million other monsters, but it's mine, and it sounds RIDICULOUSLY fantastic. splendid. beautiful. wow.
For price, I recommend commonwealth cycles. they're a sponsor of this board, and their price could NOT be beat. I looked around for awhile, and could not find a better price. Significantly lower price than other dealers. Prompt service, too. Anthony, if you're reading this--thanks
reasonable is really subjective. the price of admission for new termis is just simply going to cost you some coin $$$

the termi system for the 696 is a 'full' system since it removes the cats. that is why the other bikes are getting full systems instead of slipons. for the 1100 the full system removes the special exhaust valve before the cats plus it has a slightly bigger bore i think.
any slipons put on the 696 opens it up from the engine back.
the main advantage of the termi system is the ecu which raises the rpm limiter as compared to the other ones like the juice box or PC V

Sorry, this isn't a 696. But I did once own a 696 and had the CF termis with the ECU installed. Like others, hard to tell if I noticed any diff. With my 1100S, baffles out and the full CF termis in, I can feel the diff PLUS the sound is insanely loud! Cosmetic factor = 9, performance factor = 8, sound factor = 100+

Repairs from what? Did I miss something?
*Edit - never mind. I realized what it was. So sorry to hear about all the damage.

Congrats, dude. You're right. Termi's make a Ducati sound like... well... a DUCATI!
Maybe I'm shallow, but one of the reasons I wanted to own a Duc for years was the sound.

It was the sound of a Paso owned by the father of a buddy of mine back in HS that made me always want one. Got hooked right then & there, 20+ years ago. Nothing else measures up to the music of a Duc under load, esp w/ Termi's.

I like my Termis. I also like the fact the previous owner installed them so I didn't have to plunk down the purchase price for a set. I know it's blasphemy, but I modified the internals on my Termis. It sounds brutal now. I've even seen a few straight-piped Harley's cower in fear when I light up Molly ~
