i dont have a 696, i have a 796.. but i was wondering how people have mounted cameras on their bikes, ive searched, found on the fork tubes, the trellis, chest mount, boot mount, helmet mount, i dont think suction cups work on a 696-796 tank unless its glossy clear coated, i m also confused with the mounts that attach to the gas cap piece, the newer monsters dont fit in that way, i was thinking of mounting them on the handle bar, but the center piece goes across and probably needs to be trimmed or replaced to use that as a stable mount...

So what can I do to make my shifting more smooth? I want to change the cover and add a pressure plate, but is there anything I can do to improve the feel?

Have you ridden other new ducs? The 796, and 848 that I rode both shifted better then my 696. The tranny seemed much smoother for some reason, and they were both easier to get into neutral. Not sure why?

well i believe the 796 has a modified slipper style clutch, and the 848 has a slipper clutch too? that helps it smooth out surges in power

Yeah, I haven't ridden other new Ducs. Just older Monsters. I don't recall being impressed by their shifting ability. My 696 is a mother f#*ker to shift in to neutral. It's embarrassing, really. I'm sure some people don't think I have any clue what I'm doing when it takes like, 4 tries to get in to neutral.

I believe there was a shifter-related recall, so you might want to check with your dealer to see if that has been done.

Can someone else confirm this?  I have the same problem.

Anyone know of a good way to get scratches out of plastic or how to replace the plastic display of the speedometer of a 696? I washed it and didn't think my sponge was all that abrasive, but it left light scratch marks that will BOTHER THE HELL OUT OF ME if I don't fix them. Suggestion?

Also, where do I get official Ducati decals for gas tanks? I want to change mine to the older 80's style....

http://www.decal-orations.com/search.php

Decal-orations is where I purchased some 80s logos for my helmet. I also plan to replace the factory stickers on the tank with some reflective 80s logos. They take their sweet ass time shipping out orders, but the quality is great. If you use the URL above, just type "Ducati" in the search field......

Cool, thanks gentlemen.

One more question; is it possible to powder coat this part:

exhaust piece?

no, it is not adviseable. you can change its color with rattle-can barbeque paint (or higher quality painting systems from VHT i believe)

the best method is to ceramic coat - this is a boost to performance through better scavenging, better for not burning your ass/legs/hands on it, and you can get it in black*

* it will fade slightly and over time may show chips and knicks.
