without knowing your riding background, are you sure you aren't chasing perhaps the wrong issue?
i see you write that you went harder 6 clicks, then softer 12 clicks, netting 6 softer than original... but why? Whygo harder to begin with if its, in your words, too firm? is it actually too firm? You were playing with preload in the above, but then also with compression I take it by referring to clicks. To me, sag looked fine in those above numbers for it to be ridable...
with the forks, have you tried different oils?

i think the other issue is your trying to make a limited adjustable suspension somehow setup for two VERY different riders.
i would say, set it up for the wife... with the rear damper set to mid point or lower.
then plus up on the damper when you ride it, just as I do when riding 2 up

I follow what you guys are saying, but my wife has not ridden YET, too tall she says, so waiting for the rear spring mod to allow some more rider sag and more compliant on bumps. Not trying to setup for me at all, just happen to be the only way I can tell what is going on is to ride it.
Front now after my spring mods, I think is going to be fine for her.
Yes, I think the 7.5 weight oil in the forks is now to much since I weakened the springs, so ordered some 5 wt.
I expected the shock to loosen up some on the bumps when I backed off the dampening, maybe I need to go farther, but will wait (not my strong suit, waiting) till I get the spring installed.
P.S. We have only had the bike for 7 days, and I do play golf, I don't have any of this stuff laying around my house. The mods may take UPS and me a while. LOL

Raux, if you're around, can you post a picture of your bike with the S&P Rearsets? I'm like, 5 seconds away from ordering them, but I wanted to see them on a Monster first and your earlier photo in this thread doesn't load.
Thanks a lot...

Next question, Raux. How hard were they to install? I plan on doing them myself, but I didn't know if they require adjustment, or if it's a one for one swap?

I had an early prototype/production so there were 2 minor things.
I forwarded the issues to them so not sure if they've been adjusted.
1. There is a small spacer required on the left side between the case and rearset (the stock has a larger cast in that area, so you will see what i mean when you take it off. I used a small AL spacer about 10mm i think.
2. The mount for the stock rearbrake switch didn't come with a halfheight bolt for mounting. I ended up using a pressure switch instead.
but other than those.. easy install... get a rearstand though or the bike will fall on you when you pull the left side off.

Went to the local Duc dealer today and was chatting with their master tech for a bit. The tech said that he loved tuning bikes, and said that I should bring my 696 to him once I get my ech reflash in so that he could balance the cylinders and get the ike running perfect. Is this something that's possible on a siemans ecu bike? The dealer doesn't perform reflashes, so they can't tune the maps, so I'm curious how or what they'd do? Any input?

Your tech is talking about balancing the cylinders; throttle synch, co balance between cylinders, maybe adjusting valve clearance and the cam pulleys. This is separate from computer mapping or flashing.

Thanks. Is the cost/investment in labor time worth it for that?

I would go for it, and being cool with the tech, is always a benefit
