What is the cost?
Thanks. Is the cost/investment in labor time worth it for that?

No idea. I was asking more as a generalization. Since my 7500 mile service is going to come up in the next 2 or 3 months maybe I'll just have him do it then.

Solved the shock problem now off to the forks for an oil change and maybe longer preload spacer.

Picked up a used 1100S ohlins, exchanged the mount to keep it low and installed the 70n/mm spring I found for my wife (she is 130 lbs).  Perfect dampening and much more adjustable than the OEM Sachs.  Removing the 130n/mm spring that is stock on the 1100S about trashed my spring compressor tho.

Thanks for the combined help so far, this forum has some good tech info.

Oh, neutral light was off and on in all gears.  I purchased the micro switch, took me 5 hours to install, fixed.  Anyone wanting to tackle this fix, I can help.   Grin

Yeah, came off a wrecked 1100s with 5200 miles.  New DU737 is $594, very nice upgrade.  I am sure the OEM spring on the 1100 will be too stiff for the 696 tho even if you are a BIG guy!  The 1100 must have a longer swingarm (SSS) thus more leverage or different angle for the shock thus the heavier spring??

Took a gamble and bought the Ducati Performance lower engine cowl.  I'm glad I did.  It improves the appearance of the bike, especially from the side view as it fills out the front lower area of the motor (which I thought looked kinda off).

Just posted in the DanMoto thread, but figured I'd share here too.

Here's my 696 with the DanMoto CF exhaust, Low seat, integrated tail light, and the Electraeon throttle cam. Since these pics I've also added some new levers. I have both the Dark & Blue skins for my bike, so here are pics of both colors....

I think the long tail goes well with the length of the cans

I like the tail chop look, but I ride rain or shine, hot or cold so I am waffling between doing it and not doing it. Having a muddy racing stripe down my back after my ride into work on a damp day would suck.  This year I do plan to chop the cans 4-5 inches and ceramic coat everything, I think shorter cans will look much better.

If you are keeping the long tail, I think the long cans look better.

Looks like I am done modding the 696.  My wife started on the S40, then the new Ninja 250, then F650GS twin.  Put over 13,000 miles on the GS.

She is more than thrilled with the 696 now, says it gives her lots of confidence as it does everything she asks of it.
Major changes include, 70n/mm spring, many changes and trials with the OEM forks including Tiger 1050 springs and 5wt oil and much testing on scales with zipties to get both forks the same.

Ohlins 1100s shock, DP low seat 20mm lower.  48t rear sprocket with 110 link chain.

Result in 28" seat height plus her tourmaster boots have 1" sole added.  Thanks for all the help and tips on this forum.

So I ended up going with the Rizoma rearsets - even after I actually BOUGHT the S&P's and waited over two weeks to get a "What color did you want?" instead of the damn product (cancelled). I had a little snafu with my tank covers (I made a mistake with my tankslapper kit)....so I ended up having them professionally repainted gloss black. I threw the retro 80's decals on, too. Making a lot of changes! I ALSO put some bar end mirrors on ($30 cheap ones) to see if I liked the look better. I do. Might invest in a decent set now.

I'll post pictures once I get the rearsets on.

Next up: Carbon front wheel cover + Pazzo levers.
