i can't point you in the direction of anyone unfortunately, but the standard exhaust headers would probably be best anyway. it's only a little engine and although V twins are renowned for being torquey the 620 isn't a powerhouse, if you went for a larger diameter you would lose drive low down and unless you wanted to rev the tits off it everywhere you wouldn't find it again. i'm pretty sure they're stainless steel as standard so if you just want to tidy it up they will polish up nicely.

+1 on what Loony said. But why are you wanting to change the headers?
When Jukie had her pipes put on we had the standard headers polished - they are stainless but apparently have some type of coating on them from the factory which doesn't respond well to heat (so they get black and ugly pretty quickly). Once polished up though the look alright, if you are into that kind of thing
and will 'bronze-up' with a bit of use ... after a while they will probably return to ugly black ... then you can polish them again.
My bike is obviously a different setup, but the exhaust doctor kept the standard headers as they were a slightly smaller diameter to what he otherwise would have used. Apparently it is better to gradually increase he pipe diameter so the standard stubby headers were retained (but polished
):

I'll bet the NCR big bore kit will cost a fortune!!!
you could try
www.ferracci.com
or better still,
www.cacycleworks.com
i'm reasonably sure both do a big bore kit, the ferracci one will have fbf branded pistons but they're made by wiseco and chris at cycleworks may be able to help with a mahle kit. it's just a suggestion though.
Oh, if you're upping the capacity to 750cc shop around for a 2nd hand set of 750 monster headers, get em polished and fit them, they should do the trick.

all the 2v monsters - 600 to 1000, run 40mm headers.

well there you go! no need to change em, just give them a polish when it's apart for the big bore kit.

How about Vee two in WA.
http://www.veetwo.net/index.asp
I don't know if they make a big bore kit but worth a call, you wont have the convertion of the Australian Peso to worry about either.

get your cylinders bored by electrosil in melbourne or anyone else close to you and get the ferracci 620 big bore pistons or some sort of 750 piston - std for low comp or whatever other. it just becomes a 750.

electrosil quoted me something stupid to replate mine, IIRC it was around $550 each?
so the stroke is the same between 620 and 750 then?

Hi Betty Jukie's pipes look nice and shiny are they stock ? if so can you tell me what process and materials you/she used on them to get them that way
Mine are ugly looking tried wrapping them in graphite tape but keep scraping them so that looks shit as now they are all frayed .
thanks

Dez,
Yes they are stock headers with custom slip-ons all stainless. As for the process I don't really know to be honest, we had it done when the slip-ons were made ... I am mechanically inept (just ask anybody who attended the last maintenance day). But apparently getting that initial factory coating off is the hard bit.
If I remember correctly Egas has done the polish thing and had a bit of a write-up (probably on the other board) ... Egas, is that right?

apparently muriatic acid cleans the headers up almost instantly, from there it's polish, polish, polish.

Do people still call it muriatic acid? Not heard it called that before (had to google it
) - way before my time. And where would you be getting it from - is it full strength? ie 32-33%

... and Loony, is it necessary to use the acid (take that whichever way you want) before the blackness is baked on over several thousand k's?
