I'd like to see a reviews section added. Getting the content onto this board will make it take-off, and add the functionality that TOB used to have.
3 Sections:
PARTS
I volunteer to add well written reviews and provide a template for parts reviews.
Post up your model, the part, options included, who did installation, etc, with ride reviews. Discussion of review and part can be linked at the bottom to a general forum or accessories section thread. M1911 does something like this, and I like the idea of member contributions.
VENDORS
No template here, per se, but a general model, akin to that found on eBay.
Who you bought from:
What you bought:
Opinions of Customer Service:
Website / Catalog / Shop Convenience:
Shipping time / Packaging:
No review of actual merchandise. If you bought something crappy, but the vendor was great, complain about the product elsewhere. Its important to note that the service was good, even though you bought LED valve-stem caps, and they suck real bad.
USER TRANSACTIONS
Similar to vendors, but with the section aimed at user-to-user transactions. Buy something off of member 'xyz' and he was prompt about shipping, great communication and the product was as described? Sound off so we know. Get screwed? Also good to know.
I volunteer to head this campaign up, and can submit my thoughts to whoever I need to, including template forms for all three if need be. I have several reviews of parts I had started but never finished for TOB.
I think a parts review would be very cool. I think the other two....well... not so much.
I can just see it getting out of hand with all the he said-she said stuff.
It will promote alot of feuding between members, which is never good. Also if you pay via Paypal you always have the option of opening a dispute and letting them tkae care of it.
Some of you will remember the mess on TOB over the swingarm that Norm built for a customer. I can't say I want to see threads like that all over the DMF.
Also as part of the DMF guidelines, the founders...er...I mean
flounders state that they don't want to get involved with disagreements with regards to transactions made through the forum. Nor should they have to. It's really a caveat emptor thing. I know I'm a little more careful with members that haven't been around that long.
Maybe if we did a feedback thing like on Ebay that might work. There could be a number next to your screen name in your profile that would represent the number of positive/negative transactions that you have had. Something like 1 point for each positive transaction and 1 removed when you receive a complaint for a negative transaction. Other members could click on the number and see how many of each you've had and if there was a negative feedback left the member could respond in their defense.
