I fell for the tricolore back when if first debuted. Just awesome - IMO. The streetfighter definitly has our attention though. I can't wait to see it in person and most importantly, hear it!

Undecided till I ride both but I'll have the streetfighter or 1198 the day med school is over.  Its a ways off but i need something to keep me motivated.

Hell for Leather posted the Streetfighter's dyno numbers, charted with a nice comparison to the outgoing S4Rs:

The graph here has been carefully designed to maximise the apparent performance difference between the motors. It shows only the top half of the rpm range, and more significantly the top half of the power range, emphasising the Streetfighter's extra 25 hp at the top end.

At 5000 rpm the Streetfighter has about a 6 or 7 hp advantage, or about 10 per cent, which is what you would expect from the capacity increase (998 - 1098) alone.

And remember, the curves shown are for the stock motor, measured at the crankshaft.

The full Termi kit adds at least 12hp to the S4Rs at the rear wheel, and more like 16rwhp in the upper mid-range. Those numbers would be bigger again measured at the crank on Ducati's dyno. I seem to remember Ducati claiming somewhere that a kitted S4Rs produced about 150hp at the crank.

So ... we can expect a stock Streetfighter to have a little bit more go than an S4Rs with full Termi kit, but not a great deal more.

Of course, you could also kit the Streetfighter. And it's 10kg lighter in stock trim.

Nevertheless ...

That's my point.  The Streetfighter will be neck and neck with an old S4R until 100 mph or so.  Beyond that you really want / need a fairing and some clipons.

So better unusable technology for more money?

It's usuable.  You just need a set of clipons and a fairing.   [laugh]

120 mph wheelies, what more do you need?

A little is good, more is better, too much is just right.

Agreed!  [thumbsup]  The pearl white with red frame S4R is almost enough to make me forgive the ugly radiator.

The radiator is awesome... It's called a "Monster" i.e. Frankenbike.. It looks like they shoehorned an SBK motor into a standard bike frame that was not made for it, and that's exactly what they did..

More on the Streetfighter from MCN here:

They're a hard bunch to please. Reckon the new bike comes up short in the grunt department ...

I'm assuming it's not an April Fool joke.
