What are your opinions about this alarm?

I was going to put in an alarm and lojack the bike but this seems to do both. I am not looking at the extra ignition kill package bit. Just wondering about opinions.
I don't have a garage- I must street park and I live in a "sketchy" neighborhood. I'm pretty sure most the homies around here have no IDEA how to even ride a motorcycle, but this is MY BABY so
DO NOT TOUCH!

That thing doesn't work like an alarm, does it? It won't sound off - only text you, right?
If you want to scare away people BEFORE they touch - try Scorpio

Yeah, I had a Scorpio alarm -- over 130dB -- LOUD!! I has a perimeter sensor and several other features. Nominally alerts you if you're up to 1/4 mile away from the bike!!
My opinion -- go to great lengths to NOT park on the street. It's not a matter of if it will be hit, but when.

That is not an alarm system.
I have a Gorilla on my Monster and it works great. The problem si that the unit is huge, like 3x3x2. cut it in half and mounted inside the airbox lower half (which I am removing as I now have a garage...)
If you are parking on the street, I would find a place to secure your bike with a heavy cable or chain, and leave the chain/cable for when you return.
Street signs are good. If you are handy and can get an impact drill, pick up one of the Krypton anchors and drill it into the sidewalk near you. They are very low-key and when you pass the chain thru it, it is not going to let someone take it.
But you need more than a lo-jack.

Lol..
I live in Chicago, the city proper. I can't drill into the sidewalk. I don't have a garage where I live and no one is renting any space out for me either. So the only option is an alarm or just not have a bike. =(
I do have a disk break lock as well as throw a cover on the bike. I have storage for the winter but that is miles away from where I live so that would mean I'd never ride the bike.
But now I see what you mean... it doesn't squack at people.
I have full coverage on the bike insurance wise. someone was saying then I don't need a lojack since if the bike is stolen, insurance should help me out. True?

You might be able to if you do it discreetly enough. i did the EXACT thing in NYC, in Manhattan, on a busy street. The first spot was on E37th street, right off Madison ave. I attached it to a sidewalk grate. Second time was on E 63rd, I drilled right into the sidewalk near a garbage alleyway entrance.

Full coverage is exactly that. If you have the bike well documented that you alarmed it, it smooths the gears if you need it. I would rather not my bike be stolen though!! Big hassle.
Ask your ins if they give discounts for bike lojack or alarms.
The disk locks are ok. I prefer a chain on the wheel, preferably on a deeply set object.
be creative!

How far is your bike going to be from your place? Do you have a window? Might i suggest one of these?

That seems pretty sweet and much cheaper than the Ducati alarm. It look like something I might be able to do myself too.
Question though-
if I had this and then put a cover on the bike, wouldn't the wind be setting if off all the time?
Thanks! =)

The Scorpio is sensitive, so yes the wind can set it off.

Adjustable in various ways - so I'm pretty sure it's not hard to make it work with a cover.
You can download all the instructions from Scorpio's website - maybe you'll be able to decide if you can install it yourself.
It's not too hard, but it will take you quite a few hours - have someone around for moral support.

*smiles* I work in IT as a Network Consultant. If there are instructions with the wires, I've got it.
Thanks! =D
