Hey Doc, put an HID kit in - It is great - When I ride by cars at night my light is so much better than you average cars - And as an added bonus when I go round corners the wide band of light really stuffs up 'cage' rear vision mirrors. [moto] Interesting point though - with the HID kit in, it is like I have a wide screen TV in front of me, the light area is so well defined - When I had the std Ducati system I could barley see......

I got mine from ebay but I will get the guys email address and PM you with it. It is actually a Harley kit (quiet, don't tell anyone....) but it fits perfectly and was sasy to set up and works a treat!

This is a cheaper kit out of China but it is better to pay a bit more and get a good quality kit with the super slim ballast.

if anyone is looking for a non-hid way of increasing light performance, I can recommend the Philips X-treme power globes, same 60w globe as standard but the performance is incredible. The colour of the light, clarity and brightness and how much more is illuminated is so much better than a standard globe.

Make sure you go for a ride at night, then install the new globe and do the same little route. You'll be impressed.

I used this place in the UK - they were incredible, get a notification of shipment within 10 minutes of the order confirmation, free shipping and it arrived in a week. I normally find the English to be completely ineffectual when it comes to the whole global market - but this company was amazing.

price is for 2 globes!

Thanks for the information Spider. I did a quick search on ebay and came across this Aussie site:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/PHILIPS-HALOGEN-Car-HeadLight-Bulb-Crystal-Vision_W0QQitemZ370051822766QQihZ024QQcategoryZ33710QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

From you experience is he selling the one that you recommend??

Thanks in anticipation.

yeah Bret, and that seller is located 3 kilometers from where I live...but he wanted $10 shipping, so the bulbs where $80, instead I had then for $43 from the UK instead.

I don't mind supporting Aussies (Sydmonster will vouch for that - I provided him with a link to the local distributor for a product) but we must be competitive - I will not pay twice the price just because we are located down here together - I'll pay 20% more to support - but that's about it!

course it is Bret...and everyone else too...

just do that 'night time install thing' (should be easy now it is winter - gets dark at 5!) and that way you can compare old with new - that is if you don't ride at night a lot....don't just turn the light on in the garage actually go for a ride around the bloke...that way you will know and see that you've made a good choice.

I will definately do that mate.  I dont do a lot of night riding but I did do a trip up to my shack when running the bike in and was a little jumpy looking for roos and wombats.. so the more light the better I reckon.  I like the idea of bulb replacement in lieu of system change etc.  I did get into some internet security loop with their website and my brain but turned out it was my brain that wasnt working.  And hey I get a gift of a side bulb thingy as well.

You have to love communities of interest like this site.  I hope it stays true to the ideals of sharing and education.  Truly a great resource and the real essence of what the internet is all about.

Thanks
