I went to check out the Arizona Desert Ducatisti Desmo Owner's Club site http://www.azduc.com  and read this

Ducatisti,

It's with deep regret that as of April 7th, 2009 "Possession Studios" is withdrawing it's sponsorship of the Desert Ducatisti club. This decision has not been made lightly. As the only sponsor of the club that pays recurring fee's for the club, the recent events and overall lack of interest in the club makes continued sponsorship seem inappropriate.

As an individual member for over six years, and President of the club of four of those years, I hope the club will turn around and continue on.

Best Regards,
Bill Johnson

Possession Studios
azbill@possessionstudios.com

........

Now excuse me if I don't know how all this is operated, but what needs to be sponsored for people in Arizona with Ducati motorcycles to group up for rides or just have a discussion on a web site. What were the recurring fees?
Is it the web site that was costing money, because what else there that would cost money for people to plan out rides and such?

Duki09 (and all),

I'm the current VP of Desert Ducatisti.  Without getting into too much detail/drama, I'll keep it simple:

Dave (the president), myself, our club treasurer, and we believe many club members, do intend to keep the club alive.  Unfortunatly the website domain and website were both owned and ran by Bill, so it will take us a little while to get the site going again.  The club officers are regrouping, and reorganizing, so all I can say for now is "stay tuned".  We will be in touch with every club member we have contact information for.

Thanks,
Dietrich

Until you do get a new one, why not just us this one?  It's free, and free of details/drama  Smiley

Thanks, I'll always check in on here and hope more people post up.  But, the club does need it's own identity.  I know some of the Superbike, Supersport, Multistrada, ST, Hypermotard, etc. guys might not even know about the "Monster" board.  Not that they wouldn't be welcome.  Hell, they even let Sport Classic riders poke around on here....  cheeky

I'll certainly steer people this way for local Ducati related info.  Always do.

You could always ask Rob for a section of his board too.  He hosts different groups, which are only visible to the members of the specific group.  They are private forums for clubs or groups.  I know the CBR group has one on there, and I think the BMW crowd has one on there too, a few others.

Anyway, just a couple of ideas for (no cost!) immediate fixes until you sort out more permanent ones.  Good luck!  Cheesy

Thanks for explaining what's going on, Dietrich.

It shouldn't hurt to use this site to get AZ Ductatisti together temporarily until we get our own domain again.

If this being a Monster board that may not attract other Ducati owners, was it considered also using http://www.ducati.ms/forums ?

I thought of that also.  Ducati.ms has a "southwest" section that some people in AZ use, but it gets less traffic than this board does!  Plus it's owned by the evil overlord, Vertical Scope (a for profit company that bought up a bunch of motorcycle and other power sport forums, including the old monster board).

I think this will suffice for local Ducati related stuff for the time being, and Bill was kind enough to put my personal email up on the temporary page at www.azduc.com if anyone has any specific club concerns.

I agree that the DMF is best suited for what (I feel) is needed for any local group info at least in the interim. DesmoSouthwest doesn't see too much traffic either.

Just another suggestion,  but there is also a site http://motorcycle.meetup.com in which you can look for or CREATE your own meet-up group  in our area.

I'm not good at creating these things, but maybe someone here can create a AZ Ducati Meet-Up Group at meet-up.com

The meet-up sites contain message boards, event calendars, meet-up attendance,  profiles, etc, etc  and it's FREE

I thought the "detail/drama" was going to be left out of this thread.
