Is this a good time to sell the S4R? Are we out dated?

Did somebody just say "financially sound decision" and motorcycle in the same sentence?  [laugh]

At least for me, all bikes are toys and if I worried about the money angle I just couldn't enjoy them. Jeez, you can drop one in the blink of an eye, anytime. I'd be more worried about that happening and ruining my "investment" than I would any potential loss of resale value cause of new models.

Just my two cents worth...

I want to sell my 2004 S4r and buy a 900 carby.

yes, I just said that.

for my style of riding, a 2v is a much better option than a 4v.

Also, I could have a 944 kit installed, 41 FCR's, etc etc.

I'd like one too, but not instead of my S4R, rather in addition to.

honestly i love the 696/1100 but for those of you with the watercooled monsters... the only way to go for updating would be the SF. the 1100 just won't float your boat powerwise. styling... well a matter of PERSONAL opinion. if you like it great if not ok. but change is a coming.

i never liked the watercooled monsters personally. they were TOO far from the original concept. the new 696/1100 are closer to the original, even if the rear subframe is not to mosts liking. gawd can't wait til someone produces a tube-subframe...STEW?????

SO back to the original question. Keep it sell it, get what makes you happy. hell i would love to go buy a 94 SS 750. does that date me?

Hey guys !

I have been thinking about selling the 2005 S4R. Makes me sad to even have the thought of parting ways, but the truth of the matter is that I have been drooling about the new monster style since I saw the 696. I would like to buy the new M1100 but want to get the most out of the sale of my S4R and if that means holding on for a little longer after the economy gets better so prices go up again, then so be it (if that can be considered a true statement), but I am afraid that if I wait longer, the new monsters will make the old ones lose even more value for being out dated. Please give me your thoughts to make a financially sound decision.

Cheers  [thumbsup]

For me I had the opposite reaction. I want to hang on to my S4R. It will always be to much bike for me so I don't think I will ever out grow it.

If I do get another naked bike it will prob be another barely used S4R or S4Rs with a few thousand miles on it. Maybe give the 998cc a whirl  [thumbsup]

Ideally that would be nice, but $$ tends to get in the way of that.

I got sloppy seconds from your moldy ass?  ;D

With 32k on the clock, that thing still starts up first time and runs very strong.

It was just hard to get used to that 20% error on the speedo.

I was doing 85 indicated and was getting blown by on 275, so I asked him about it and that is when he informed me that 100 indicated is really 80.

Now makes me re-think my 99 750's speedo.........

I do know on my S4r that 120 indicated is really only 98.

At least that is what the Ohio State Patrol laser gun registered

Actually, I'm surprised that it isn't more widely known that the ORIGINAL Monster concept as built by Miguel Galluzzi, had a 4-valve engine in it. The 2 valve engine was designated for the production model by management/accounting decisions.

I've got my #2 '07 S4Rs w, ( 7 ) miles on it for sale for another 4-6 days until my new bike comes in. ( See Monsters for Sale )

I've had the White Pearl Monster since the day it was delivered to me by the Dealer and I have never ridden it.

I have 2  S4Rss just alike.

It is all stock and I'm asking $10,500.

Somebody could get a basically new S4Rs for...........  $4,500 less than the bike sold for new.

I started it a week ago, 4/6/09 and ran it until it got to 222 degrees then shut it off and put it back on the Battery Tender and after it cooled down put the soft car cover over it inside where it has been since it was delivered.       Dolph      :)

ok learn new things everyday... that's my motto by the way... anyway... to CORRECT my statement, too far from the original PRODUCTION monster.

lightweight naked aircooled motorcycles.

I was referring to the subframe being a greater departure than the water cooler.   :)

I've found a few uses for the radiator -- or rather the radiator shrouds.  I have the horn hidden behind the left shroud, and the overflow bottle hidden behind the right shroud.  Of course, I wouldn't have to hide the overflow bottle if I didn't have a radiator.   :P
