dont flame me for asking this please. I am getting the bike ready to go to the shop to get some stuff done and noticed the oil is low (like not even in the window) could that be because it was sitting all winter?
If it is actually that low, would it hurt to put 10w-40 in it just to ride to the shop which is about 30 miles away? I am bringing it in for oil, plugs, adn a check up.

THanks- Tony

Oh- I'll be in Austin next week. Wed- Sun. Anything going on? I have to DRIVE to Kerrville to audit an office on Thursday morning. Any good BBQ out that way?

sorry, what bike?  if wet, it won't hurt, but you may get more slippage than you were expecting, if dry, *shrug* just top off a bit and go

Hey, I'm doing a texas hill country bbq tour next week - Fri-Sun, we're hitting Luling city market, snow's, louie mueller, kreuz, smitty's and possibly more, that's about 2 hours away from kerrville, unfortunately, but you would be more than welcome to join at any ponit

are you checking it while it's on the kickstand?  you have to hold the bike upright and check it.

also, make sure you are not looking at the alternator timing view glass.  a guy i know freaked out as a result of doing that and put in 4 qts until it came up to that-- thank God I got to it before he started it.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.
