I can't believe I haven't seen this post yet. That's my bike! The oil cooler is awesome. My little 620 works hard out here in the Arizona heat. Keeping up with the pack, I've previously seen temps in the 300's. A little too hot even for the fully synth oil I've been in the habit of using. Now, the bike gets up to temp 220-240 but never reaches the 300 mark. I took it on a pretty aggressive run for a few hours up and down South Mountain here in Phoenix the other day, trying to see what temps I would see. Lots of 2nd gear uphill corners at 6000 rpm. The temp never spiked.
The kit is easy to install. The diverter valve fits up in above the oil filter and the bracket fits perfectly on the valve cover with a few spacers and some longer allen bolts. I like the way it looks with an oil line on each side.
<...and yes, that's a 749 shock, a 999 height adjuster +1", a 1098 front fender, a custom kick-stand lengthener, a tool bag under the headlight, and bicycle mirrors

Changed out a bad valve guide seal yesterday (PITA-an entire thread could be written about it) and while I was at it, decided to change theh oil. Put in some nice thick semi-synth 20W-50. Went back to South Mountain to really tear it up and see what temps the engine would generate. It's in the upper 90's here in Phoenix. The bike was running great. Twisties and uphill pulls in second gear, sometimes at the 9K rpm mark. (I admit that there were some times whre I could have put it in third gear but...) Whew what a blast trying to scrub off enough speed before the next tight corner. [moto] Previous to the oil cooler install, today's run would have had my 620 in the high 280's maybe even 290. The absolute highest temp I saw today was 254, and that happened while I got stuck behind some slower traffic after a very "spirited" set of twisties. As soon as I got moving again, the temp quickly fell back to the 240's and when I got to the base of the mountain and out onto the main roads, it settled at around 236. My FHE for what it's worth.

Okay they are done and the first of the stock is off to MOTOWHEELS!!! They will have them on Monday.. Yeah thanks Ryan! (with the 620 not myself...that would be pretentious don't you think?)... The lines run on one side of the bike aka 696 style vs S2R style. None the less here is the pic of the kit....

With my bike getting to 270 recently, I've given more serious thought to the whole oil cooler idea.
Does anyone know a cheaper place to get the oil cooler kit? The cheapest I've found is $550 through a local dealer in San Diego. On motowheels, they sell an oil cooler, but it doesn't look like the full kit.

Our kit is $396.00 with everything included with detailed instructions. Motowheels is carrying the product now and has them in stock.

I'll give them a call today. Instructions are awesome too because the local dealer was estimating about an hour to do the job and at $90 an hour, that saves some money.
Thanks Dude

it is not hard to install at all. In fact its a bit easier than the 696 cooler. You do need a torque wrench and a 21mm socket and I would go out and get some Permatex High temp thread sealer or Loctite 243 or 542. Oneof those are required for proper installation of the bypass spring. Might as well change your oil while your at it. If you would like PM me your email address and I can send you the PDF instructions.

The cooler should get here tomorrow. Is there going to be an issue with oil? It was just replaced a few days ago (go figure), also, is there any peticular maintanance or cleaning for it?

Hello all,
I'm interested in this cooler idea, and was wondering if anyone has the PDF of the install? You see I live in So. Cal. and my 695 reads 250-290 degrees all the time. I'm worried about the oil, engine life and reliability. I can't afford to pay for the dealers labor cost at this time and would like to look over the installation instructions too see if I could do it myself. If you have the PDF instructions please PM them to me. Thanks in advance. -turducn

I've got them somewhere, but I'm at work. Later on tonight I should be able to fwd them to you. It's pretty easy, taking 30 -60 minutes to do.
I don't know who you plan on getting it through, it was cheaper to get from motowheels for me vice the dealer ordering it. If you do order it through motowheels, they send you a CD with the instructions.

I had just installed the oil cooler on my 620. It was taken off a SS750. I can post some instruction and pics. It's really easy.
