Lance and I made it back from Salt Lake City last night. It was a wet ride. Lance is the Soggy Bottom Boy. I was dumping water out of my boots, changing socks, gloves, at Idaho Springs after coming over Berthoud Pass in the rain and sleet. I had to hole up in Kremmling and Castle Rock for an hour each when the lightning got too close for comfort.
I ran into Dillon and his folks within five minutes of arriving at the motorpark since they were at the Will Call ticket booth as well. It was great. I saw them off and on all weekend in the stands and around the Ducati tents.
I had people stopping me to get pictures of Lance. Some had seen him on the forum and seemed very familiar with his escapades. I looked at him suspiciously, wondering if he has been making nocturnal forays without the old lady again. In Vernal, a guy on a big black sport bike, dressed in black without a helmet, asked me at a stoplight if I was in Sturgis last year. He said he recognized the bike, but I'll bet it was Lance he remembered.
Here are some more shots of the weekend.
There's one of the Ducati's, I believe it's Haga. I would like to post a video. The sound was mind-boggling. All the other jap bikes going through the turns, then the duc getting on it. That gutteral exhaust was so distinct from all the others.
Lance wanted to get down on the fence so he could get some sun, work on his tan, be closer to the action:
I took so many pictures of Ducs, I also have a lot of video, but I am sure you've all seen Cycle World and been to dealerships so I will refrain:
Lance made me get up early Sunday so we could ride in the Ducati parade lap. That was a big deal to him and he was out there eating it up, all those poeple clapping for him. He is sure that is why everyone stood up in the Ducati stands when our group went by. Here we are waiting to go out on the track.
After the parade, the little glory hound is giddy with his latest feat:
Another shot of Clubhouse Corner:
These chaps were from Down Under and thought Lance was the coolest gargoyle they'd ever met:
These gals were from Sin CIty and that's all I'm going to say about that:
