"Imagine for a moment that you are an artificially intelligent computer system with plans to kill off all humanity in a post apocalyptic future. Got it? If you were to pattern your two-wheeled robotic progeny after an individual motorcycle design, what would you choose?"

yep, I'm confused.

did they film tards and the cgi them into the moto-terminators?

The bikes (HyperMotard's) are used as the reference for the Animators, Director and the Guys programming the computerized Camera moves, they generally shoot a couple of passes with the bikes in frame, tweak the action and camera moves, and then film a couple of passes with the Camera doing it's moves, but no bikes so the Animators can then put the CGI bikes in during post production.
It's also used as a Reference for the Animators for Lighting/shadows, dust movement, Bike physics, Etc, it assists them to make the CGI Terminator bikes as realistic as possible.

Latinbalar

I think they have dots on the bikes in which a computer then renders the mototerminators in and then the CGI guys come in and polish it up.  So the real life effects of the dust wind, reaction of fire and what not are there and don't have to be generated.  Effects like dust in wind require writing a ridiculously hard program to get it to look real.  So its easier to do it for real and just do a swap.
I live vicariously thru myself......

Pretty badass.
Looking forward to seeing the movie in IMAX when it comes out..

They filmed that in NM.  They bought the motards from the local shop and "rented" out their main mechanic for a month.  Was a pain in the ass for those that needed service.  The guy spent his days welding frames that were busted in filming.  I guess the stunt riders were pretty bad ass!

Looking forward to seeing it
If you love your bike, set it free.
If it comes back to you, you've
probably high-sided.

groovy, that's what I gathered from that video clip

I just pray to god that they don't actually call them "moto-terminators" in the movie, Terminators are the designation for the infiltration units, made to look human so that they can get into camps and take people out.  Then there are the Hunter-Killers that are the flying tanks... they need another term than the dumbed-down for the masses "moto-terminator".

I believe that is what they're called

The guy clearly says "Moto-Terminator" in the trailers (Ghey [clap])...

I hope they call it the "Hypermotard Human Hunter and Destroyer".  That would be awesome.  and by awesome, I meant TOTALLY SWEET!

A beeter question would be - what is the advatage for having robot bikes at all?  Just take out the legs of a terminator and put some wheels on them.  Better yet, why don't they just put a jet pack on a terminator?  On top of that, take out the arms and put machine guns on them.

I would totally piss my pants if a flying terminator comes at me with guns for arms.  I wouldn't even bother fighting back.

The entire point of the terminators, is that they look human... enough to get close, possibly into a camp, and start their rampage from inside, as opposed to being spotted a mile off when you can run, or mount an effective defense.

If you're going to do any of those other things, it's another beast entirely, and no need for the humanoid endoskeleton, .  Thus the HK's (hunter-killers) are "terminators that fly" of course, they're not called terminators, and they don't look like anything but a flying killing machine.

Maybe the robo-cycles should be called Seeker-killers. or SK's.  Maneuverable, deadly.  But not Terminators.

I was thinking more in terms of R&D savings by having alternative forms of the terminator.  Much like the F35 - Joint Strike Fighter.

Essentially, you will take the base form of the termnator and it's CPU/AI and apply different external parts for different different purpose and type.  Switch between form would be quick and painless (no pun intended).
