Peanut Man,

Thanks for all your work on this. I just ordered a set from Tech Spec. Funnily enough, they are referring monster owners to your pics on DMF. You oughta be getting paid! waytogo

Hey when you get yours, can you post the pic?  I'm very curious on how they would modify my design.  Tech-Spec said that they would like to put some straight-lines into my design.  But from my template mockup #2, it didn't look that good.

Let me know!  Smiley

P.S.  Someone with RED or WHITE 1100/696, please please please order a set and post the pic here.  I'm VERY curious of how this looks on non-dark bikes.  I think the contrast will work out very well with the way the pads outlines.

I have a red 1100 and Tech Spec should be shipping them tomorrow. As soon as i put 'em on I'll post pics here.

Well, MAY consider taking mine off n selling them if TechSpec agrees to replace with correct ones of course.  ALSO, need to ask them if they can send or sell us just ADHESIVE?  Have a second hand pair for hubbi's Speed Triple which will not stay well, lifting.....  Anyone know if TechSpec will see adhesive strips for reapplications?
Tks and will post up what they say about replacing my screw ups with right ones THANKS PEANUT!!   bow down

THEY ARE STILL SHIPPING THE WRONG PADS. GOTTA WONDER WHY THEY DIDN"T USE PEANUT MAN"S TEMPLATE.

My Tech-Spec pads arrived yesterday and I am stumped!
I can't figure out what they intended.

And what the heck is the idea with this piece???

I like Peanut Man's layout MUCH BETTER waytogo
It is entirely conceivable that I am simply a moron, and that one of you might look at this and think something like, "well obviously the side piece needs to move one inch towards the center of the tank and it will look perfect."
If so, please share! And there is no need to point out the whole moron thing as I have already conceded that point Undecided

update;
confirmation, I am a moron. Obviously they sent the old model. I'll call Nathan at Tech-Spec tomorrow.
In my previous post, quoted by NekkedChic, I didn't realize that some of you had already received the same kit. My only defense, I was on an incredibly slow, practically antique Windows computer last night instead of my ususal Mac. bang head

Damn...  I hope Tech-Spec gets their acts together!  Common guys!

You should request that the return shipping is also paid as they obviously NOW have the right template and yet sent you the wrong one.  However, I think it's an honest mistake.  Please email them your pics to show how they sent the wrong one again.

As a note on installing, please make sure the surface is super clean and almost hot to touch.  Instruction says 80+F, and they are not kidding.  Try this at your own risk but:  I used blow torch to carefully warm up the surfaces and the back (glue) side of the pads before I put it on.  I also use alcohol to clean the surface as the prep.  Get rid of all wax / etc from it (not that I have any on the dark...).

Mine stay on perfectly.  Even the edges are on 100%.

I am way too chicken to use a blowtorch on the thing!! I will steal my wife's hairdryer though. This is assuming they ever send me the right one. I'm hoping they simply shipped the wrong one... but damn, the guy even referred me to your pics.

I'm betting it's the "warehouse/shipping" people that are not getting the word on the new pads. Probably honest mistake.  Huh?

I used my hair dryer and worked GREAT.  Blow torch is scarey  laughingdp

As far as return shipping-they never asked for my "bad set" to be returned, so we are trying to stick em to SV track bike-but like hubbi's Speed Triple second-hand set, NOT STICKING and hoped they would be able to sell us more adhesive?Huh?

I still need to contact them about my newest, also incorrect set.  I AM very pleased with them otherwise, performance-wise AND cosmetic honestly.  Just hope they get thier shite together.  Grin

Usually I couldn't get the surface to be really hot enough with the hair dryer.  And I don't have the proper heat gun around, so I used the blow torch.  Not recommended of course, but worked great for me.   Grin

I agree, I really love the addition friction they provided.  It's also more comfy.  I used to have stomp-grip on my CBR but that stuff hurts if you don't have thick enough jeans on.  Tech-Spec stuff is comfy and grippy.  Every Monster should come equip with them, standard.

I guess I'm too tall to understand the point of these things? My knees grip the frame and rest on the sliders... laughingdp
