I guess I'm too tall to understand the point of these things? My knees grip the frame and rest on the sliders... [laugh]

thats ok, I usually only use one at a time, while the other knee is on the GROUND  [cheeky]

I called Tech-Spec & spoke to Robby. According to him, they don't produce the grips for the new Monsters (1100 or 696). So, I can pay to ship the incorrect ones back to them. Then I can pay an additional $10 for the "custom" grip. Then I can pay shipping to Hawaii again. I would probably just punt, but I spend a lot of time driving up and down steep hills.

The grips will end up costing me about $80. Not too bad a deal, IF THEY ARE CORRECT!

So, Robby is going to email the 696 template (probably Penaut Man's! [thumbsup]) shape to me, I'll print it and lay it out on the tank first. I think the 696 and the 1100 tanks are identical but I want to make sure.

Man, this is turning out to be more difficult than I expected! I thought Peanut Man had already done the difficult part!  [cheeky]

Update;
I spoke to Dean Davis at Tech Spec. He confirmed that grips for the 696/1100 are NOT in production. They are custom ordered pieces... no big deal this just adds $10 to the price. I will post pics of their template once I receive it.

Honestly I think you should push the fact that you ordered the pads for 696 / 1100 and that they sent the wrong ones instead of just telling you it's only custom made.

For the record, I didn't pay the $10 extra.  I talk to them and said that I specifically ordered for my bike and they sent me the wrong one instead of telling me they do not have it.  I didn't push to get them to pay for shipping back, however.

Sorry you had to go thru this.  Lesson to be learn for the next person who order.  I'm hoping TechSpec will put this in production soon.  Doesn't sound like it's that hard to do so...

Hey, that was my "old" Monster picture that I sent Tech-Spec a couple of years ago when I had them make a set for my S4RS.  Small world.  Just a little FYI, I never heated my pads when I applied them and never had a problem, but perhaps it's different now.

Looking good, guys.  Hoping to get a 696 in the future.
