For those of us that are ignored by large TV corporations because we don't live in a big city and follow a sport that requires more than 2 brain cells -
Channel 10 are showing in country Vic at 11.15pm Sunday night. possibly.

with all respect to Chris and all posters, this is why I don't read these threads until I've seen all the races, regardless of intention, there's always the distinct possibility of the conversation spoiling the results,,
man, now I feel like the spoiler police.... twice in a season already. I'll shut up now.
anyways, anyone who did not see the 250 race... do yerself a favour.
For me, it was one of the best races I've watched in a long long time (and way better than the Supersports at Assen in 2008, which is saying something!)

Sorry Nick.
Regardless of the fact that I was posting about the programming of this race, next time I will be more descriptive in the title and put spoiler in there anyway just in case.

just to add to goldfish's post-
the 250 race was one the best 250 races I've seen in a long time. I just hope this type of racing does'nt disapear with the 250 class next year (I think next year is the last year of 250's)

continuing my threadjack.........
This year is the last of the twofiddy 2 smokers.
<from the eurosport commentary> Next year will be 600cc 4 stroke spec honda engine, control ecu and data logging, but the rest is open - chassis, suspension, tyres etc etc. Report is engines will be >150hp, and it's all in an attempt to reduce costs. Speculation that we'll see entries with harris, morwaki, and bimota frames, and a whole lot of privateers. Tyres are likely to be michelin and dunlop
big and I were talking about this on Thursday night, and I agree with him that one reason the racing is so good is that the bikes are all at the peak of their development and are very close and competitive, so the difference is now down to the rider.
By all accounts, a spec engine and ecu should deliver similar fierce racing, so here's hoping. I think that there's something inherently wrong with "spec" or "standardised" equipment in prototype racing classes, but if its about reducing costs to keep it alive, and the racing is uber-competitive, then it's probably the best compromise

hmm, well I'll wait and see.
BUTT (as in a butt, opinion we all have one) I think that the change was unecessary. The 250 class works, see how well the 250 riders that are coming through to MotoGp.
Drastic changes will = $$$ spent regardless. Think about the losses all those 250 teams have put in, data, testing etc all to go and start again. That will take years and $$$ to get back to that, sure its entertaining for us, but costly to the teams. Some will pull out others will make it work for a while, but eventually the cream will rise to the top again. The changes, for the sake of $$$, will simply work for a small period. Look at all the other race classes around the world were they have tried to curb costs,... F1, MotoGp, V8's, Champ, ASLM etc... all the so called cost cutting has done is made the engineers work harder to get around the rules. Their spending more money than ever...
