Lojack information

So sometimes i lose sleep wondering if my bike will not be there in the morning. Living in south florida we all know how crime is down here. So I have racked my brain about chaining to a post, but there isn't one close, the girlfriend won't let me park her in the apartment. Alarms are great but then just flip the tank and cut the battery, (and thoseback up batteries don't last over a year) So i was looking into Lojack thier website is useless.  So my question is if anyone has one or researched them.
1. How much are they?
2. Is there a monthly cost?
3. Can you hide it in a monster?
4. How many of you have them? and do you think its work it

I have lojack on my monster...

I cant remember specifics, but I tacked it onto what I paid and I think it came to 50 bucks a month for a year IIRC.

Also, they hid it in my monster somewhere that even I can't find it... And I have had it in advanced stages of dissasembly.

 I like having the extra peace of mind that having lojack gives me, specially when I have to park outside...

I recommend it...

LoJack will actually refund you the purchase price if your bike isn't returned to you within 24 hrs.... I work at a car dealership in Pompano Beach. We put LoJack in every one of our cars right when it comes into our inventory. The LoJack guy is always here doing installs during the week.. I could probly help you out. let me know...

I've thought about this too, but the thing that bothers me is that if someone stole my bike, would I really want it back?  If someone stole your bike and then proceeded to beat it relentlessly for the next 24 hours how would you feel about it?  I think Lojack protects the insurance company more than it does the owner.  If the bike is returned, they don't have to pay out on a claim.  Problem is, you've got your bike back and it may be toast.

I think most insurance companies will also give you a discount for lojack.

Only some insurance companies will discount for LoJack. I believe Allstate is one of them.

Install doesn't cost anything, but the activation for 2 years is probly about $500-$600.... (Or $50 a month for a year)

The LoJack sales pitch is; Police will have a way to quickly locate your bike. Statistics show, that the longer a theif has your bike, the more damage will occur. This could result in hundreds or thousands of dollars in out of pockect expenses...

No amount of insurance discount would offset the cost of putting your bike right if you got it back and it was puking smoke after suffering a relentless beating at the hands of the scum thief.  For me, even if the bike seemed right once I got it back, I'd have a hard time sleeping at night knowing my bike had been in the hands of some jerkweed nitwad who had his way with it for however long before I got it back.  Now if the insurance company would pay out the big money for me to go through it and build it to my satisfaction, well now we're talkin'.  Bring on the big-bore, hot cams, gnarly exhaust, full-on superbike spec everything 'til it rips my arms out of their sockets with the acceleration of a GP bike.  Okay.  Otherwise, if some gakmonkey steals it, I don't want it back.  And definitely not for whatever the cost is up front and then per month.

I had Lo Jack in a car once.  The car was stolen.  Two days later the car was recovered.  About the only part of the car left besides the shell was the Lo Jack transmitter.

also depending on where you live, it might not be worth it. i live in san diego, 20 mins from the border, i had lojack on my truck, well, they just took my truck to mexico, lojack doesnt cover mexico. i had better luck with my replacement truck and having an ignition immobilizer, the truck only made it down the street cuz they rolled it down the hill, they jacked up the ignition with a screwdriver though.

The dealer tried to sell it to me on my new bike $1000 plus install.  I toldem no way.  My insurance would cover it if the bike was stolen.  I know it wont give me the money for a brand new bike but whatever.  I wouldnt want it back after some thief had it anyways, i also live in a relatively good area though and my bike is always in the garage.  And if im at work its in a private garage you need to swipe to get into.  Not to mention the parking attendees and security know me and that it is my bike.   So im not too worried.  If i was a thief i know i would have that thing ripped apart within an hour heh

Im a finance director at a car dealership in colorado. Our net cost on Lojack is 365. The motorcycle option is a little more because is has an option required called Early Warning. Basically a small plastic fob, that alerts u if the bike starts and ur not within 100 feet. Im having Lojack put on my monster in the next few weeks, im paying 465 installed, lifetime warranty, no monthly costs. Lojack should NEVER have monthly fees associated. A fair profit would put it at around $700. Most Harley Dealers sell it, and if they dont want to put it on a Ducati, they could refer you to a dealer that sells it. Hope this helps someone, if anyone has ??'s about Lojack, Ill be glad to answer them.
