On what bike?  Mounted where?  With what background?  Need more info, and preferably a pic of the cockpit.

I went through the same thing.  I liked the black more initially, but the white fit better with my bike.  The black one stands out more, especially with that chrome outer ring.  You also notice the digital screen more on the black one.  The white one is quieter looking and has a brushed casing.   Drunken Monkey has one of the black ones mounted into his headlight.

I've been having the same debate myself.

Really it depends on how you've styled your bike.

The standard monster the motoscope classic in brushed Al I think is nice. If you have some classic styling cues, spoked rims, or a Sport 1000, etc. then go for the Chronoclassic.

Here are some examples that might help.  Those are the only ones I could find.

The only thing I'd add is that a tach that good looking deserves a 'high contrast' background to show it off.

i.e. You'll note folks have put the white tach backed by a black headlight and the black tach backed by a light background.

I'd say the white one...matches the paint scheme with the red hand on a white background.

To bad the white doesn't come with a chrome bezel, then it would match your headlight. I think contrast to the surrounding is good for gauges, so that would mean black. But not in your case, I think the black would stand out too much.

I vote for white.

Not to throw your plans into disarray, but this would look pretty sweet:
