Honestly, I don't replace things if they don't bother me. The damage to the bar end, peg and rear brake lever are ignorable. The dent in the tank is not. Not sure how much it'll take to fix that though. Hopefully there isn't anything else wrong with it. I did take it up to 85 on the freeway, and no wobbles, so I don't think I messed up the alignment any, and still no leaks, so I may be in the clear.

My front brake lever broke mid way back & rear brake peddle bent in just a bit ( Which is WAY better than the orig position was). Those were my only reel issues. Cfiber & forged wheels is some spendy candy though.  Thank you State Farm.

.... So, KB,

if  "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear"

.....does that mean that "he" is actually riding 2 feet behind me, rather that the 4 feet that that made me take notice.....?   [Dolph]

.... Or am I simply making the mental, mirror calculation that it's 4 feet, but it's really 8 feet?   Of course, 8 feet is still an "interesting" distance at velocities of 196 ft/sec.

If I hit the brakes and change the relative closing rate between us to "only" 88 ft/sec, that 8 feet leaves 0.091 seconds to respond.   Given that the average human reaction time from stimulus to the start of a responsive action is between 0.60 and 0.75 seconds, this means nobody could avoid the collision with my tail,  ....unless they are riding offset and simply blow by me on one side or the other and hit the object that I am trying to avoid.

.....hmmmmm     [coffee]

??? Just read all that at 5am...the brain spin hasnt stopped....do...if....endif...endo...do...if....endif...endo....syntax error! Scream! Curse! Pain! Curse! Blue screen!  [bang]

Optimism: Those calculations are based on some stationary brains overly optimistic analytical skill and logical reasoning...considering at 196ft/sec the human brain evolves to cheetah brain...working at pure relaxation state, devoid of supervisor intrusion & simply opportunistic state....I bet a 3rd dimension is opened and a skewed plane created...a second is a myth...a fraction of a second is a possiblity...an Angstrom-second is an opportunity!

Conclusion: Wise ass Mr. He better lead or double stopping power with tolerance...?!

Hurricane paranoia is going full-tilt here in the East. It's supposed to pass right over us sometime tonight. Not much we can do except sit & watch & listen. We're on a hill, so we have no concern about flooding. On the other hand, our house is in the woods, so there will be branches and trees possibly coming down... Keeping the chain saw sharp. And, of course, there will be the inevitable loss of electricity.

You Desert Hooligans are missing the thrill tropical force winds.
Nobody said that I did. Everyone says that I would.

Even by New York standards, this has been quite a week. First the earthquake (I did not feel it while I was working in my home office on the 2nd floor, but the guy who lives in the basement definitely felt it). Now, the hurricane.... Err, tropical storm. Lots of rain & wind, but no serious damage here.  As I said, we're on a hill and we're 6 or 7 miles from the North Shore of Long Island, so flooding was not an issue. The yard is littered with leaves & branches. We did not lose electricity. We may be seeing the sun in a few hours.

Glad to hear that you had no major issues....hope to see you guys in the dry south in the near future ;)

Barb will be in ABQ next Tues thru Sat. I just completed the drive down the eastern coastal plain from NY to Florida. I'll be here a week to work. We will both be in ABQ for the 2nd half of November. I really miss the New Mexico bunch, even KB.
