I'm guessing Penrith Ducati got the job then.
So how much fun is/has the 848 been.

How did you guess?

Who was the other shop that I rang then?

Anyway, big thanks to Ducati Penrith. A small shop with only 3 blokes working there, from what I could gather. Just hope they look after the little girl.

Right, to the 848. I can't remember if you rode one Matt but I reckon this thing is a beast! Turn the thing on and it sounds like it wants to rip your bloody arms off. When it was first switched on when I picked it up, you know those grins you get where no amount of trying to straighten your face will get rid of it, that was me yesterday.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin  Did I mention this thing is LOUD!

Of course, the two bikes are like night & day, my little Monster feels so soft suspension wise & weak power wise compared to this thing. I suppose it's like driving around in a Holden then having to drive a Ferrari. You feel every bump and the seat is about as soft as a plank, the minerals were taking a pounding against the tank.  Embarrassed   And it gets real hot real quick under your thighs with the heat from the pipes, a good winter bike. It stops nearly too well, I thought the clutch was dry at first because of the noise and how hard it was to use. It looks like a race bike, it sounds like it & from my experience, I felt like I was on one.  Cool

Would I buy one at the moment, no. I couldn't ride it every day. If I had a car to get me to work and the 848 for weekends, I would buy it in a heartbeat, if I could afford it. $20k for a used one, I've already started looking.  coffee    Doesn't mean I'll buy one though.  Undecided

They did offer me an ex demo 696 for $12k. Don't know about that one though.  Huh?

..... and what happened to 'permission to upgrade'? I'd hate for you to miss your chance

Funny thing is, I said to the better half, with excitement in my voice, 'You've gotta see this bike they've given me!'

'Oh that's right, you took your bike for a service today'

'YEAH! And you should see........'

'You're not getting another bike'

WTF! bang head  Why do they change their minds like that!  bang head

Why do they do almost everything?

weird little things...thank god they are here though!

speaking of looking at 2nd hand...

the market is officially FLOODED with 2nd hand 1098....have a look at bikepoint, page after page of them....wonder how many are under finance? 848's, Matty and I kept an eye open and it started as a trickle and it's started to happen.....they'll hit $18,000 within a few months (sure you could get one for that now with cash). Spoke to a dealer today who reckons you can't sell a good 999 for any more than $16k.

Interesting times...you'll get something when it's time to get rid of the 620.....800's are quite popular.....should be able to get one for 10k.
