Does this bike make my butt look fast?

« on: May 08, 2009, 05:34:41 AM »

So, Cole of CC Rider Tow South came by yesterday to take my beloved duqette down to Nichol's. Again. She was knocked over, again, while parked in a perfectly legal and "safe" place, again, by some hit and run douche bag, again.  bang head bang head bang head

I told Jim on the phone that in addition to repairing the damage, I'd like for them to remove the car magnet this time.

Here's the related barf thread:
http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=292453

Here's the info for those who don't barf:

The scene:
O'Farrell St. motorcycle parking at Market and Kearny, Thursday 4/29 afternoon sometime between 4:30 and 5:40 pm.

The bike:
My red Ducati Monster, parked on the eastmost end of the legal parking. Also featuring a light blue Vespa.

The plot:
I returned to my bike to find an unsigned note taped to the tank informing me that some JERK in a Jeep Cherokee had knocked over my bike and driven off, plate # 5T74805.

My bike had been picked up  (thank you!). Damage would have been much worse except that it landed on a brand new Vespa.

The question:
Who left the note?!! Are there any other witnesses?!

My bike has light damage, bent handlebar, missing exhaust can hanger, bent shift lever. Tank OK. The Vespa suffered huge gouges to the front faring and fender where my handlebar landed. ouch.

I filed a claim with my insurance, mostly because my only hope of getting my deductible back is if they can track down the driver...

That sucks! Glad someone left a note. You should file a police report immediately.

By all means go ahead and try, but the police WON'T help you.  I had the same thing happen... a note with a license number but no name or phone number.  They said that there is no way to prove that this was the car that hit you without the witness.  All the guilty person has to do is say they didn't do it... He said She said bullshit...

I didn't bother with the police report. I filed a claim because my insurance company will try to recoup costs. It's all about the money.

I do wish that the good person who left the note and picked up my bike had gone the extra step and left a name and contact info. I've done that several times, and despite what people may think, it's not that big a deal to chat with an insurance company rep for a few minutes on the phone.

Yeah, but at least the police will give you the address of the perp to pursue a civil action...or an uncivil action, if that's what you prefer Evil

Sorry to hear, that blows. Adds to the eternal question, "why do people become retarded after entering a car?"

I saw one of those on Valencia yesterday. I took a quick photo of the guy and car and left info. The driver was nice, though apparently BLIND and left info as well. An old BMW took the blow for the rack of bikes in a row.

It was definitely the Special Olympics (NO OFFENSE) of driving on Van Ness today.
