So I went for a nice long 120 mile ride today, and decided to take a break at downtown Plymouth's waterfront main strip, which is halfway between Boston and Cape Cod in Massachusetts, for those who don't know...
I was parked on the side of the street outside a coffee shop just hanging out next to my S4, and a beautiful 1098 Tricolore w/a bunch of tasty mods went crawling by me......He saw my Monster and I, so I pointed at his bike and gave a  [thumbsup] in appreciation.....Well, it was as if I wasn't even there, because he just rode by, no gesture back or anything...  ???
So then, I see him circle around and come back towards me in the other direction.... and at this point, I had started my bike and was getting ready to leave....So he pulls in next to me, and I say "Beautiful bike, man!!  :D You don't see a Tricolore like that every day!!!"

To which he responds, in a stand-offish "I'm better than you" manner; "Yeah, I know....", and proceeds to walk inside, with this tough-guy look on his face.....I might as well have been riding a moped...... [roll]

I was totally expecting to maybe meet a fellow Ducatisti and hopefully strike a up a conversation not only about his 1098, but about ducs and riding in general...keep in mind, I was the only Moto rider parked there!! What a prick..

I guess a$$holes aren't exempt from puchasing Ducatis, are they..... :-\

+1 unfortunately.

Two weeks ago, I was out riding my mountain bike with a buddy. Stopped in a small tourist town and Lo - there was a beautiful S4R parked outside a cafe. I had a look, noticed he had a novel clutch cover with clear case... was busily trying to work out the brand (Rizoma) when he and his pals turned up, no doubt wondering who this guy with a pushbike was.

I said "Oh, heh, nice S4R - I've got an S4, just looking at your sweet clutch cover." BOOM, nuff said, all was cool. Spent the next 20mins talking bikes.

That's the way it should be.

What a shame. I guess this is the difference between a Ducatista and a Ducati owner.

don't take it personally, you're the real deal.

unfortunately, it doesn't matter what sport, interest, hobby, business, transaction, place, opinion, religion or political party you associate with these days....the complete idiots have infiltrated everything.

Previously in history a man who acted like that had the cr@p beaten out of him eventually, these days of political correctness....well let's just say don't expect him to ever change.

But don't let it alter you, we need the cool ones to stay that way!

Well said.

It is a shame how some folks act.
Why do roaches always die on their back?

That because the survivors flip them over to steal their sneakers and wallets.

I get that regularly. Whenever I'm in downtown and I spot a Ducati, I stop to chat with the owner. It's part of the politiking I do for the club. I sometimes end up with a "Oh yeah." and a turned back.

One day when I was at McGill a 999 parked on campus. I walked over and started chatting, mentioned I had a 916, etc. He just blew me off and walked away. From what I gathered he was a janitor, or some sort of maintenance staff. Seems the 999 blew his ego out of proportion.
