opinions on "universal rearsets"

So I'm really having a hard time justifying spending $500 plus on aftermarket rearsets, however I do really dislike the  OEM rearsets on my M620. I never take passengers on my bike and the passenger pegs are always the first things I take off. Anyway, I really hate the HUGE OEM rearsets on the Monsters.

so my questions is this:

I just came across these new "universal fit" billet rearsets on fleabay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=350201974186

and am wondering if anyone has used these or can share any opinions. The price is certainly right and it might be worth a shot to try out.

depends how good you are at "modding" them to fit....my read was that they fit "most" bikes, but may need some modifications or mounting brackets.

yep, looks like it would take some fab work to fit a monster...

I think some modification would be in order to make them fit as well.

Oh well, since I'm already in the middle of redoing the top triple, gauges, bars, and headlight anyway, why the french not?

Mental note: buy my next bike in the middle of the winter so I can actually RIDE it when the weather is nice.

They sure look good.  I just wonder how hard they would be to fit, and how safe they would be once you fit them.

You may run into difficulties with the rear break since the cylinder bolts directly to the back of the stock rearset.  I just spent the afternoon modding the stock ones by off the extensions to the passenger pegs

those ebay ones appear to mount in about the same spot as other aftermarket sets. might be an issue if you run high mounts, depending on clearance.

but hey, the whole point is to fab up a way to make 'em work, right?

I do have high mount termis on. still have to check bolt measurements though...
and I'm still working on redoing my top triple and lowering my gauges and headlight. well this one will have to wait if I'm riding at all this season!
