Definitely better than rags. It's cool cuz you can get three sides of the chain at once. Also you can spin the rear tire while holding the brush against the chain, for fast cleaning.

I have one of those, and I never use it.
I spray my chain (while hot) with Chain Wax, and then use a rag (all the way 'round the chain) while spinning the rear wheel by hand. Cleans and lubes at the same time.
Cancel your eBay order, and I'll mail you the Grunge brush FOC.

I had to use mine to get off the old tar, also known as PJ1 black label. Then applied dupont wax.

i already paid for it. i hate using rags because they pile up really quickly. When i took of my sprocket to clean that are under the slave i cleaned that whole area nice enough to eat of, then a week later it was so piled up with grease in there that the sprocket carved out its own little path. it was litteraly a sprocket cover made of grease/wax/grime/rocks/ and probably small animals feet.

In almost 40 years of riding I've never cleaned a chain. I usually change em out at 15,000 mi. as a matter of course and I do wax it every 300 mi. give or take. That's about the time they start needing adjustment. Usually I don't have to adjust but maybe twice in 15,000. Chains are so reliable now and with the SSSA they're as maintenance free as shaft drive.
The brush looks like it would work very well though.

I use it regularly and love it. This reminds me it's time for another chain cleaning/waxing.

when you wax your chain, dont you automatically clean it anyway? unless you just spray on on the wax and rub it down with a towel (thats what consider cleaning and waxing)

I use a spray on dry silicone. The gunk just
dissolves
off the chain with this stuff...
