Mock it up with the gauges and headlight lowered as well. I think that'd be the bee's knees.  waytogo

the gauges are lowered but lowering the headlight was too big of a headache, but both will be lowered when the clipons  get mounted.

I would really like to change the color on the rear spring but I dont really feel like ripping the bike apart and being unable to ride for it.

then again, knowing me, its gonna bug me until I change it so its gonna have to happen sooner or later laughingdp. I eventually (as in, forever eventually) would like to change to a better rear spring so maybe when that happens I can do it.

PS I thought I would add this.

Its overly simplified but anytime im modifying one of my bikes I do one as a guide. you can see the gauges, tank and tail make a straight line, the seat is what I will line up my headlight with and the lines from the tank to the frame meet at the top triple.

Looks cool.  In-my-not-so-humble-opinion, I think the logo ought to be level with the ground, though.  Looking forward to pictures of the real thing.

+1

I think you can play around with it in photochop.  It will be pretty easy to tell when it's "right" as it will just look, well, right.  Grin

Then again, maybe Cider and I's judgement is just clouded by seeing so many original ducs with that logo.

IMO, it makes the difference between looking OEM or looking like a tank with a sticker on it.

if you read the other posts you will see that not only have I played with it in photshop, and posted it the "oem way" but that there are very specific reasons for it being tilted.

heres what it looks like with the logo straight. I dont like it because it doesnt follow any lines of the bike. angled the way I had it originally follows the line of the top of the tank and together with the frame they both come to a point at the headlight.

Right is right;

But it's your bike, you only need to please yourself.  waytogo

I might not even go with those decals. duccutters has all the old logos so im gonna play around with them. and then comes the actual mock up once the paint is on.  Alot of things change when you can circle around and see it from different angles.

PS might wanna check your stock badges. theyre at an angle...

If you didnt want to rip your bike apart to change the color of the spring go see a dirt bike store and get a dirt protector its a nylon cover that attaches by velcro around the spring.  It helps a lot especially when I took off my rear hugger after it got messed up.

sorry about the crap photos, my camera sucks. the lines are really sharp in person though and the paint came out better than I thought it would

My decal guy told me that I could do 2-4 color and it would be more durable and the same price as the 1 color I had planned so I went with what I had wanted initially anyway.  if anyone wants some I have an extra set ill sell for 15$

and yeah, I tilted them.
