That little 50cc Honda was my first bike too. I built it from two basket cases my Dad had when I was 11-12yrs old.

I always thought it was the hottest 50cc of it's time even though it had to compete against established brands in Germany like Kreidler, Zündapp and Hercules. Couldn't afford one at the time (mind you I was growing up in Germany during that time) but was fortunate enough to get to ride my buddy's bike.
Great memories guys

I only wish I had great stories like that...
Mine start after a divorce and a cruiser, but I won't go into details...

As to the Heinkel, well, different strokes for different folks, I guess.

In the famous words of Austin Powers, "please allow myself to introduce myself." My name is Steve and I've been living out here in Albuquerque going on 17 years now. I am originally from Windsor, Connecticut, a small town just north of Hartford. My first bike was an '89 Suzuki Gsxr-750; same as the '88 'slingshot' save for a slightly different paint scheme. In the picture included here, it is all stock except for the tinted windscreen. Over time though, the bike became modified. (The heart of my '89 consisted of a bank of Mikuni flatslides - I had to be able to keep pace with my buddie's 'slightly' modified turbo Gpz!) I've owned a '93 Gsxr-750, a '94 Gsxr-750, a '97 Gsxr-750, and a '99 Yamaha R1. I wrecked my knee pretty badly pretending I was Tony Hawk whilst at the Los Altos skate Park and decided to sell the R1 since I couldn't bend my leg to ride it. My knee eventually healed, but needless to say, I got out of motorcycling for one reason or another. The thought of getting another bike was always in the back of my mind though and it wasn't until this year that I decided to get back into the sport, the passion, and the way of life I once enjoyed. I picked up a '09 Ducati 1198s over at PJ's last month and am pretty much thrilled with it. All the folks down there at PJ's are awesome people and I enjoyed doing business with them.
I've known Dusty for quite awhile, talked with KB a couple of times and briefly talked with Ducmouse once. (I might have spoken with a couple others, but do not know their NMMR names.) Yes, I admit, since getting my new bike, I've been lurking about your board from time-to-time and decided it's high-time I say 'hello' to you all. This is one of my favorite threads you have going, I like the theme. Staying with the theme of 'Then and Now', Scott Russell absolutely dominated the sport back in the day, riding for team Muzzy Kawasaki, and was my Superbike 'hero'. (I've been reading that some of you follow the races nowadays and also have your favorites.)
I hope to meet some of you out and about, perhaps next week up in Ouray. Until then, here are a couple of photos spanning 20 years time; my '89 Suzuki and my '09 Ducati.

Awsome intro Z!!! Glad you finally posted. Welcome and looking forward to having you along for some rides (including up to Ouray). And I do remember that day you "killed" your knee. I think you were supposed to be helping someone move that day or something like that.
See you soon and ride safe! [moto]

It means that our first meeting(through his post) is one that left a good impression. Thus we are "well met".

Look at me, I learned something today. Now I have to attempt retention.
Dusty went to school in Santa Fe, so we were both clueless.
Will there be a test next week?
