695 Frame Slider Suggestion
«
on:
May 23, 2009, 05:25:20 AM »
Hello hello,
New to the boards and the motorcycle world in general with a used 695 as my first bike.
Playing it safe and would like to put frame sliders on sooner rather than later.
Do you have any recommendations or is there an obvious choice as to which to buy?
Thanks in advance.

MotovationUSA and Speedymoto both make great frame sliders. Both do their jobs. It boils down to what look you want.
Motovation part number FSD07R
Speedymoto part number 09-0201

I just purchased a cool set of frame sliders, axle spool/sliders from T-Rex racing for my S2R. They seem to be top quality and are priced very well. Their website is
www.t-rex-racing.com
but they don't have the Monster thru axles posted yet. I sent Tom the measurements so he could fabricate them. He said that the thru axle mounts would be priced at about $25 to $29. Other prices are on the site. I plan on installing later today and will put some pictures up when I get completed.

Welcome and lets see some pics.
+1 speedymoto. Ebay also has cheap sliders, but who knows what protection they will offer

Cool items
Will you please check for any, if any, freeplay between the "through-pin" and the engine casing? Stock and replacement same diameter?
I plan on getting a reversible rear stand sooner or later, is the T-Rex a good choice, you think?
Looking forward to the pictures!

Well, I have the axle sliders installed so far (working between my girls naps) and the fitment is perfect. I am going to tackle the frame sliders after bedtime tonight. I will check the pin diameters and see if there is any problems (play) in the installation of the new pin.
I have the T-Rex single sided swingarm stand and LOVE IT! I can't see how the Pit Bull (and comp. stands) could be of any better quality. It is super easy to set up and is much sturdier (is that a word) then I expected. I am probably gonna order a spool stand pretty soon though, so I don't have to uninstall the rear axle sliders to lift the back of the bike. If you are going to go with rear axle sliders, you might want to consider that before buying a stand and then needing another.

I've tried the Rizoma framesliders on my 695 but that didn't work out very well. They were really tough to position/fasten left and right the same way because of the little, eh, swingarm (?) or what should I call it. Nice looking but not very practical. I think I'll try some Speedymoto framesliders. You don't see those here in Belgium.

I have
R&G Racing
frame, bar end, and fork sliders. The frame and bar end sliders have done a great job in two low-speed incidents.

The speedymotos look a little like Spidey's skateboard wheel bar end sliders. A little smaller though.

Dope! Sorry, actually paying attention to what I read isn't my strong point. I usually just draw my own conclusions from the pictures. Makes things more interesting.
