Grips

Rizoma grips are still out of my financial range, but in the meantime...does anyone know who makes grips to cover that funky flange thingie on a 08 S4RS throttle? I bought some aftermarket grips that are similar to the Hypermotard grips, but they didn't cover that flange.

Rizoma Sportline Grips are only $59 through PJ's Parts:
http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=264&products_id=84&osCsid=0604cb9cb859ac1e461f455c86dd3d26
By the time your done spending another $20-25 on a different set of grips to replace the one you already bought that aren't working right, you could have had some that will work perfect for about another $9...
Just sayin'...

I ended up installing the new grips on my Yamaha and put the old ones back on my Monster.

wellp, my comment still stands...
why waste $25 on grips you "kinda" want, when you could just spend $59 for the ones you "really" want?
sorry, i'm an advocate of frivolous spending

My Yamaha didn't really need new grips, but they look good on there....but i think my Monster DOES need new Rizoma grips
Yeah, I'm a frivolous spender myself.....could be why I have no money

anyone have a first hand review on those rizoma grips? are they comfy? and how easy to install? the stock hard plastic is starting to hurt.

I saw those mounted on a bike last night, the fit and finish looks
much
better than the driven d3s. dident give them a full test but comparing them on visuals (of quality and fit, not aesthetics) I would say grab em.

yea, with BOTH hands... haha.
the grips are awesome. the look great, the install is easy as hell (they lock on with a set-screw rather than rubber-against-metal friction), the throttle side is it's own throttle tube and comes complete with new throttle cam (use the 2-stroke motor cam, it fit's the monster throttle assembly PERFECT).
the grips are about 1/4 shorter than stock grips, so you will have a small section of handlebar showing at the far end of the bars. your options are to cut the bars a little shorter, mount some bar end mirrors directly to the bar (like i did), or buy some bar ends that are made to cover that up. Chris at Desmoworld in Germany makes bar ends specifically for this situation.
Buy the grips, you won't be disappointed... Unless you like soft, cushy grips.. Then you WILL be disappointed.

Yeah, very easy to install. 10 mins TOPS. the longest part is getting the left grip off. Haven't ridden with them yet though...

Dull x-acto blade took it off like a hot knife through butter with the lightest touch.

I have Rizoma Lux
Heres what i think.
Cool Factor :A+
Price: C
Feel: C+
Durability:C
Function:C-
I do like the grips. Freaking cool looking but functionality less than par. Really no padding on the grips and get really slick on hot days. I wish they would make a few minor changes.

For all you folks with the Rizomas, do you normally ride with gloves? I like the look, but the comfort factor may be an issue for me, though I only use the Duc for >300 mile rides nowwadays.
Oh, and Nak3d696, how can the durability of aluminum be a C? Not criticizing, just asking. My stockers are just fine for now, I'm just building THE mods list for the years to come
