So Big T not really LOVE at first sight then!
Might have to get there this week to take a peak and grab some snaps.
Matty I didn't get that same "feeling" as when I first saw and sat on my S4RT.......
And agree with Craig in that you would need to spend $40Gs minimum (Bike & Bling) to get it to a stage where it was acceptably "blinged "....

Nice post Craig. I didn't really get the chance to give the thing the critical eye, but a few of the things you mention stand out.
* Those 696 mirrors break easy apparently
(don't mention the war and all that)
* Go full custom for the exhaust
* I admit to being a little surprised that it felt right for you. That was exactly my first thought when I sat on one ... and remember thinking I don't know how this will go for the big blokes
* New style Monster would not be on my list if I was in the market
* 155 HP make the beast with two backs me, lucky I didn't know that before I jumped on (what are our 800s? less than half that?). Our little bambino (Fiat 500) only has about 18HP to give you a different perspective ... the Lammie far less than that. And there was me in shorts and t-shirt (at least they lent me a helmet and gloves)
* $33k is certainly more attractive than mid 20s for the M1100S I reckon, but once you've had bling, there's no turning back

Leaving the old monster/new monster argument aside, I reckon the SF is a different beast altogether. It isn't trying to be a monster. It's a Streetfighter. There is no.logical.reason for wanting a 150++hp bike with no fairing to ride on the public road. This bikes target market is the insane. That in and of itself is part of it's attraction for me. Was over there today and have to say that I'm no fan of the headlight arrangement.
In person it didn't get better, maybe in red or maybe in better light. It was sitting right in the doorway with
sunlight making hot spots all over it.
The seating position was not bad for me, lots of leg room around the tank cut outs.
As for the cans and asking $5k for Termi's and ECU making the S model almost $40k that's a lot of coin
for a neeked bike in my book. 150hp aside, I do see attractive items on the bike, a good tail tidy will open up a really
neat looking rear section.
I see what Big T is talking about with the dash, it's pretty low and could be hard to find a warp 1 or 2 or 2.5

Wow, great minds think alike. I accidentally found I had to swing past Frasers today as well..
My camera battery was flat, so there are a few more (poor) random shots on
FlickR
, but you get the drift.
Overall, I actually *really* like it.
Things that I could like better:
* I agree that there was a little too much plastic in some sections (rear right exhaust guard etc, rear hugger, front radiator covers).
* The pillion pegs were welded to the rear subframe, so there is no removal option that doesn't involve an angle grinder.
* All of the rubber pipes for the oil cooler and the Radiator look pretty average (braided lines would fix that
) and the stock pipes suck ass.
* make the beast with two backsing Mirrors from a 696 .
* Plastic Clutch and Brake Reservoirs look cheap IMO
* Full Termi system, add
$5K
!!!1!!
But sitting on it something just felt
right
..
* It was a little more sportsbikey than a monster, but not enough for it to be uncomfortable. The bars didn't feel as wide and were a little bit swept back relative to the monster.
* Narrow tank was easy to grip with my legs and the foot felt position felt great.
* It definitely feels like a better fit than the 1100 or the 696 Monster form factor for the Larger Gentleman©.
* The wheels looked TOPS.
* Ohlins everywhere.
* Black irradescant body with gold frame looked looked a lot nicer IRL than the photos indicate.
* The rear brake is bigger than my S2R's front brake.
* The front brakes are bigger than my
cars
brakes.
* Traction control std: you need it for 155HP stock (allegedly
170HP
with a full termi system!)
* $33K ride away for the Streetfighter S, but if you have to spend 15K on bling you end up looking at $50K for what at the end of the days is a naked bike.
I'd much rather a second hand S4R and a track bike and a traily and change.
I had a quick look in frasers and the pillion pegs didnt look to be welded but bolted to the subframe . But hopefully the termis would have there own bracket so you dont have to run the pillion pegs .

Termi system bolts to the same hanger off the pillion pegs.
Sorry to spoil your hope Feral but you gotta use the same hanger.
We'll see what some of the other exhaust peoples come up with.

Wasn't the S4Rs $21,995 +ORC and Tri Coloure $23,995 +ORC
That would make it about $23,500 and $25,500 that's still about $10k less than the SF.
Or am I mistaken on the price of the S4Rs when it was new?

I was planning to buy one at the end of the year and thought this bike would be everything i wanted from a bike.
I had a look on Friday and didn't like the black at all.
I hated the riding position.
I hated the fact i will be blown off the bike above 130km/h.
The sales guy is getting me in for a burn next month as, maybe a ride will change my mind. Obviously a lot of people love this bike, i feel like a traitor LOL

33K onroad ride away Dock for the S. +5K for a full termi system (or whatever other 3rd party pipes end up costing). + the rest of the CF you need to buy to replace the cheap plastic looking junk on it (hugger, chain guards, exhaust heat shield, radiator covers), + your other generic bling (levers, mirrors, drips, clutch cover, etc).
Hmmm
. Maybe I should stop typing now in case I talk BigT out of this any further.
